I had it in the first post but next time I'll try and remember to do a separate 2nd post in the topic with that info just to point it out more.

Only with DRS. DRS and the tow were absolutely huge down the straight.

I was watching the splits around the track and they never grew through the back section like they used to. Someone would close to within 0.5 on the straight and they could pretty much maintain that gap all the way around until they got back to the DRS zone and then they could make a move.

Red Bull is the car to have if you're coming back through the field. It's like Lewis with his fresh engine at the end of last year.

I can't ever recall seeing half of the race coverage dedicated to the battle for 13th. Great result by George polishing the turd. Image

I was really enjoying the non DRS portion of the race. Was like watching old school F1 again with drivers really having to put up a fight to get past but the benefit of these new cars really letting one follow closely. Russells pass on KMag into the back chicane was wicked. Satisfying to watch passing like that vs overpowered DRS walkovers.

Crofty was really giving me the shits tho. As soon as he realised Loowis was stuck and the track was drying he started to get on his high horse about enabling DRS, and every time he spoke to a guest like Ted he would bring it up... Lap after lap when they were focusing on that battle he would mention it.

It was pure hilarity that when it was enabled and he slowly came to the realisation it wasn't going to help, :D Top effort from Albon to keep his Mercedes powered Williams ahead of Gasley and Loowis with no DRS to assist.

Really good drives from Russell, Yuki and Bottas. If Bottas didnt have his long stop he could have been 4th and possibly close to a podium!

Ferrari doing Ferrari things. I really didnt think Charles had to risk going for that extra point. He almost made it work two fold tho and was challenging Perez but assumed all the risk and dropped it loosing more points than he was trying to gain.

Oh, and Rosberg should be a permanent figure on Sky for the rest of this year, even if he has to Zoom it in like this race. Refreshing to have someone not drinking the Mercedes koolaid and saying it like it is. His comments about Hamilton trying to pass Gasley for the 20th time and his commentary about Totos ridiculous cool down lap message to Loowis was good to hear.

Was a decent race.

There's been a lot of talk about Russell doing better because he's had 2 seasons of driving a crap car and knows how to work around it with what he's got. Hamilton hasn't had that luxury so that's why he's struggling. Ted also said on the grid that the zero pod approach might be their whole problem because they don't have a lot of bodywork supporting the undertray meaning it can flex more and there's less mass on the sides. I would have thought Merc might have tried a praccy session with their bigger pods from Testing 1, as they said they were purely cosmetic so can't be much work to fit for a try out.

I also found it interesting that for all his championships, Hamilton didn't seem to have any answers for passing Gasly other than trying the same unsuccessful move in the same place lap after lap. Gasly had that covered so I was surprised he didn't try something else. A dummy move, a different place, try and force it down the inside, anything but what he was trying because that simply didn't work.

Yeah me too. Compare with Russell trying to pass KMag at almost every corner on the track. I wonder if last season really did break Lewis completely.

I was also surprised neither of them seemed able to keep up with the Williams on the straight despite having DRS.

I enjoyed the non-DRS race for a while and seeing them really having to earn a pass. It did start to get frustrating after a while but I wonder if they decided it'd be simpler to wait for DRS to be enabled.
