Not if Lando is close. They won't tell them to not race with DR leaving.

De Vries beat Latifi to the F2 title didn't he? Nice to keep rubbing it in...

Got to be the end for him surely. He's been shown up as too slow ever since he arrived. At least Stroll got a bit better and amazingly got some good results.

Get the feeling F1 need to have a rethink about the safety car and how long it takes to go racing again.

I don't really understand why lapped cars have to pass instead of just dropping to the back which would be quicker. On a designated straight, they all pull to the left, everyone else goes through and they rejoin at the back. Easy. I know one original reason was to do with the software lap counter getting them out of sync with where they really were but come on it's just software. You can mark certain cars and just add one lap or something.

Or maybe rather than keeping the cars running at speed, slow them right down to pit limiter speed to give the marshals more time. OK their tyres cool down but it's the same for everyone and it only takes half a lap to warm them up again. And besides next year they won't have tyre warmers so cold tyres won't be a surprise to them.

I had assumed it was about fuel (and perhaps tyres), if they drop back rather that going around the field they will be back on the lead lap, but will have used one less lap of fuel than the cars in front of them?

The issue for me, which was a big part of this lengthy restart is F1 leave pit lane open & allow pit stops under SC.
This is where I think the US premier series manages SC's better as pits are closed until the field is bunched.
It also takes the luck out of it, the luck of whether you can pit dependant on tack position & gap behind, etc.
It also makes the ensuring pit stops very exciting if most or all cars decide to pit.

And yes I know F1 can't do it this way as F1 only has 1 pit box per team & not 1 pit box per car.
But that's just a simple change as F1 tracks have enough space especially if they also decide to reduce the number of crew allowed to service cars.
Which could also introduce more excitement & emphasis on individual cars crew in their overall race result.
