Woke up to a message from a mate saying I might be $100 up.

Completely forgot about a bet we had from round 1 this year where he said "Merc wont get a pole or a win all year". He was convinced the weird side pod thing had fucked their car.

I thought they might go back to normal side pods so took the bet. So go the whiny school boy that dobs on everyone!

Crazy in a season where Ferrari have taken as many poles as they have that Max still sets the record for most wins.

Sadly can't see Red Bull being knocked off their perch next year but maybe the CFD reductions will kick in and 2024 will be competitive.

Going from one dominant team to another isn't hugely entertaining.

But finally a decent race from Dan. And that was going on the strategy that Merc should have (with at least one of their cars).

Well, you say a decent race, that was a shitty move he pulled on Tsunoda. And I dont know why they dont get a drive through or stop and go for dumb shit like that.

Once he got the penalty, it certainly fired him up.

This was an excellent race from my point of view. Almost perfect.

I had barely slept on an overnight long haul flight on Saturday, plus the clocks changed. That meant I was absolutely shattered by the time the race started and I slept through almost all of it. When I woke up near end, the commentators said it had been a boring, uneventful race so I'd missed nothing.

It was exactly what I needed, thanks Mexico! :D

Yeah pretty boring race. Max was over a second ahead by the end of lap 1. If Hamilton hadn't shoved Russell off the track at turn 3 the mercs might have been all over him. It was a shame he was so far ahead that he didn't need another pit stop. If he'd come in for mediums with 10-12 laps to go it might have been a good finish with him chasing down Hamilton. Merc have made some odd tyre choices in a few races lately. Hopefully next years tyres will improve things as Pirelli are trying to put the same time difference between each tyre to make the strategies a bit more varied.

Leclerc's success ratio from pole is terrible.
8 poles
2 wins
2 second places
4 retirements

Max
6 poles
5 wins
1 second

It'd be interesting to see Ferrari's pole to win ratio compared to Red Bull in recent years. Weird strategy decisions have been responsible for not converting at least some of those pole positions.

Had a quick look to see if that stat was around and found this...

An even more stark statistic.
Only 2 drivers have won the championship for Ferrari in the last 43 years. MS and Kimi. They could have won so many more!
