That's a neat idea. I like how the commentator plays it straight too. :)

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Marbula 1, the commentator for that series is even better.

esports claims another pro driver. Abt has been fired by Audi for getting a pro gamer to race for him in the series.

I've been watching a lot of the esport races and various drivers Twitch streams and the unofficial races are way better than the official ones. It's common to see Gis, DePasquale, Pye, Leclerc, Will Brown etc all fucking about doing some sort of racing together and it's hilarious. Gis and Leclerc are way funnier than what you see at the real races. Gis is ridiculously good at every game too regardless of whether it's V8's, Sprintcars, rallying.

They said they basically got what they wanted out of the series so don't need to continue but I wonder how much of it is just cost-cutting after COVID.

I saw a good comment on twitter that Formula E is trying to market cars to people who hate cars. Most motorsport fans like engines and noise. I wonder if the lack of an audience both at the track and on TV meant they weren't getting much value for money. Audi are moving to the enduro E dakar type thing.

What's Formula E???

Don't care for it so don't watch it.

I suspect most of us here don't either being fans of the traditional noisy gas guzzling racing...?

I know no one watches it, but the Monaco race was a ripper.

So, despite what I said above, this race was way better than your typical Monaco F1 weekend.

Just watched Monaco.

Driver's eye view is epic.

The racing is excellent.

The sound is painful.

Arrival, the owner of the autonomous racing car project Roborace, has written off the value of the company in its latest accounts, after judging it would never make money.

UK electric vehicle start-up Arrival took a $20.7 million (£16.7m) impairment charge in 2021 on its ownership of Roborace as well as on charging stations and other leases “that are no longer expected to generate future cash flows”, the company said in a filing published on April 27. Impairment in accounting usually means a permanent reduction in value.

The Roborace automonous racecar was revealed by Arrival CEO Denis Sverdlov at the 2017 Mobile World Congress along with plans to build 20 to create a race series that would be held ahead of Formula E events on the same circuits.

Following a head-to-head display with two cars at the 2018 German e-Prix in Berlin, Roborace ran a low-key ‘Season Beta’ in 2020 with seven so-called DevBot cars that could be run autonomously or with a driver. A video of a car making a right turn to crash into wall on the Thuxton racetrack went viral
I never quite understood why they thought people would be interested in watching autonomous cars racing each other. There's no emotive connection for the fans.

Whatever happened to that electic motorbike series that was meant to be up and running. Last I heard, the entire fleet of bikes burnt down and that was it.

MotoE? Still going. Supports some of the Euro rounds. Ran last week in France even.

So round 1 of 2023 was held last weekend at Mexico. First race for the gen 3 cars.

Anyone watch it? What did you think?

I have so wanted to like this from the first ever event and have never been grabbed enough to watch it full time. These new cars look tiny, probably the size of an f1 car from days gone by. With more power and some big names in the series, I liked it. For the first time in 9 seasons, I’m keen to watch the second round.
