I'm impressed it can stand there without falling over, let alone take off.

And then it experienced, what SpaceX called a 'rapid unscheduled disassembly'

So rad. Seeing it lift off is just a little mind bending.
That looked like a real KSP monstrosity let loose.

It took off this time, but after separation the booster blew up (or was self destructed) before landing and it seems they lost comms with the main stage too about 8 minutes in.

The Odysseus moon lander touches down in about 2 and a half hours at the south pole.

What's cool with this is there's another camera that's going to detach 30m above the ground so it can film the lander landing.
If that works it'll be bloody brilliant!

Good luck to them.

I watched the landing stream but was knackered, so when they lost contact I gave up and went to sleep thinking it'd crashed on landing.

I was quite pleased to see the news this morning. :)

Oh no, looks like it caught a foot on a rock and tipped over at the last second.
Amazing how difficult it is to land on the moon.

It really puts into perspective how amazing it was that almost 20 years ago we launched a robot that successfully (just about) landed on a comet.
