Microsoft evidently needs a little help with directions.
Check this out. Go to Microsoft's MapPoint software.
The website is:

http://mappoint.msn.com/DirectionsFind.aspx

Select "Norway" from the top box and put the
name "Haugesund" in the starting city box.
Then put "Trondheim" (also in Norway) in the destination
city box, and click "Get directions."


Isn't the map it generates amazing?

Although the cities are just a few hours apart and
connected by a direct road, MapPoint directs you
on a week-long 1700 mile journey involving 7
countries, multiple toll bridges, and two long ferry rides.
Simply bizarre.

And interestingly, if you click on the "shortest" radio button instead of the "quckest" radio button (which is default) it still says for you to across and back on a ferry over the North Sea.

And yet if you reverse the trip it's direct. What a bizarre thing. Has to be an easter egg rather than a bug. Something like that is just too weird.
