Oi SCR blokes ...

Post by hankstar »

Gday =]

Just had a blast at SO Classic in the XRs with a bunch of the SCR regulars. Do you guys have a regular race night, or are you gonna have a comp or something soon? I think I'd like to get some more regular LFS action. Maybe even join the crew (shock horror!:fall:). S2 has got me all excited about LFS again too - looking forward to the goodies
I study Mon-Fri and work weekend days, so the only people up at night are Aussies/Kiwis/drunk Scotsmen :D I've all but given GPL67 up, and it seems noone who still plays GPL65 seems to do it when I'm home/awake anymore, too :)
Be aware I'm only safe in a GT or GTT and I hate Blackwood :D. I need serious prac in the fronties too ...

Cheers

We don't have regular race nights as such. Usually it's just a front up and drive with whoever is on. If there isn't anyone on a server on a week night, just hang around and someone is bound to drop in sooner or later.

As for comps, keep your eyes on the AAL. Its forum is again officially back at RSC in the LFS->Leagues->Endurance League forum.

Don't expect much action before S2, but once S2 hits, there won't be any shortage of races I'm sure :D .

Seriously though.....

For hank & others, here's whats going on in my head regarding
race series once S2 is released.
After a few weeks of everyone crashing into things, flatspotting tyres etc
we'll kick off a few things.

The Endurance League ~ Australasian League will run its first series
on a Wednesday. Details yet to come.
This may either be weekly or fortnightly [with alternate closed practice sessions]. Races around 60 - 90 mins.

That would all be done with pre series registration, hot lap uploading
and point s and rules as per the endurance league site.

Then the following would be done more informally with sign up
and results probably thru this ARSE sight.

A weekly "Mystery Series" maybe Friday.
Just front up and run the cars and tracks the servers been set to.
Maybe 2 or 3 races per night. We'll come up with a simple points system.
Divisiions sorted randomly.

Then a "LFS F1" series. a little serious. An open wheel series.
Run on the Monday or Tuesday following each round of the F1 series.
Based on a LFS track that most resembles the previous F1 track used.
ie Fern Bay green Rev for Melb, Westhill for Hockenhiem, one of the
city tracks for Monaco etc. We'll sort the tracks out by vote.
Points based on F1 points, divisions by point standing.

Other idea's.....
Beyond that maybe a all Oval series might be a hoot.
We run every car on the oval with 2 races per night.
Dunno.
Or a rally series on the new blackwood rally track.

Quite where teams fit in remains to be seen.
The AAL is based on 2 mans teams, but as for the other series, dunno, we'll sort that out as we go.

Additionally to this I'm sure other Aust' based teams have their own idea's.

But as we get closer to S2 release, I'll add new bits for the various
proposed race series, car setups, replays and other stuff to this forum.

Thx guys.
Enduro series sounds cool, hope I can spare the time - more to the point I hope the Better Half can endure "rrrrrrrmm, CLICK rrrrmmm, screee, FSCK" for 90 minutes :D
AR eh? Never heard of em. Besides, you guys have better corporate logos :) I know you blokes and how good you are anyway - there aren't many people I'd trust to go around T1 at SO side by side with (wd Sars, good pass - wish I had the replay)).

@norble - yes, keiko's back! Some of these lads have been chasing/whupping the little pink car quite a bit lately :biker: :D

You're right spoon, there are better teams - but not in Aus :D

Been good racing you Mr Hanky, hopefully after tonight there will be no more need to race at Classic all the time and we can all race at the other tracks.

Other stuff I've been thinking about.
Now that we have ongoing damage, fuel use, tyre wear.

What about.........

Demolition Races...
Last man standing on the skid pad.
Figure 8 autocross.
Team demolition

Hunt and kill the AI.
Hunt and kill each other.
Serious cops and robbers

Forwards Vs Reverse races

Track turbo's on the rally tracks.

Fuel economy races [who can go the futhest on a single tank. [MRT5]

+ other stuff.

Wonder if damage will keep some of the wreckers / careless pricks out of servers?

Happy to oblige :D :p

Like the other guys said there's no set SCR nights as such, with my schedule I'm usually online monday and wednesday evenings.

by the way, am I the only one not planning to test the full limits of the damage model for the first two weeks? Call me  but I'll be too busy trying out all the new cars :driver:

I know what you mean. First time I play anything that claims to model damage, I go in and bust the shit out of everything :D
Reminds me of when I first saw Max Payne 2 and discovered the joy of ragdoll physics. Do0g discovered you could blow a dude in the air with a grenade, go into bullet time and empty guns at the airborne corpse to see how many ways you could get the limbs to flail before it hit the ground. Needless to say that took up much ammo and giggle-filled minutes :D
