What a morning - Bit of PC help needed please :(

Post by KNAPPO »

Dam it :(

I woke up this morning to find that half the house was without power.

I checked around to see what had power and what didnt and then i went to check the fuse box. Surprise, surprise one of the fuses was out. So i flicked back on to then so see a huge bolt of blue jump out the corner of my eye.
I then flicked it back on to see where it came from and :eyepop: another bolt of blue sparked out of the carport power point. Ahhhh FFS was my next thought cos water had made its way between the carport roof and the wall and must have made it to the power point.

:rage:

Well as the PC was one of the non working power points i found an extension cord so i could fire it up.
Well just like Righty i had a no go.

When windows booted up for the first time i got thru 80% of the loading process and when you see that first blue screen just before the login sound file is played i had this error message.

"winlogon.exe \$Extend \&objId" is corrupt & is unreadable. :melt:

the last thing i did with mt PC last night was i updated the antivirus and scanned it.
Doh. any ideas how to fix that shit????

any help is highly apreciated.

stick your xp disk in for bootup and reinstall over the top. Will keep same settings / programs etc as before. Pretty straightforward.

LOL the noob is back with another question. :p

i have selected to install windows (it gave me 2 choices, install or repair console)

It then reminds me that if XP is damaged setup can repair it (Press R) but i guess this will take me to the repair console.
The other option was to continue installing a FRESH copy of windows....

The next screen was on about partitions.
To setup on the existing partition or...
Crerate a new one.

I guess im to install on the existing to "stick your xp disk in for bootup and reinstall over the top"
But windows then craps on about installing multiple operating systems on a single partition and that its not recomended because it might cause the existing operating system to fuck up.

Am i to reinstall windows on the existing partition to "reinstall over the top"

Dam i feel like a noob :p

messenger cdwoof@hotmail.com if you want mate, sitting at home for a while. you're passed the repair console option, now the 'repair' option refers to a repair install, which is what you want. :)

Knappo, have you tried booting up in safe mode? If you can, do that, then try to revert to the latest recovery point....

Cheers Blowie :happybanana:

Im back on my main PC with windows fixed up. My XP disc is a Service pack 1 disc so once windows was back it was spazzing out saying it was illegal.
Once i updated it to service pack 2 it was all ok. Everything seems fine now :yummy:
I just have to reinstall my sound card because it keeps saying it isnt installed when windows boots up.

BIG THANKS TO YOU GUYS FOR THE HELP :grouphug:
