Post by Shonky »

Hey folks, found a problem with the the forum, when I try to login I get the error message below. The login cookie is set during the login, because if I go back, and then back again, then click on any forum thread the forum shows that I am logged in.

Tried deleting the cookie, same problem occurs with no cookie saved.

i think there's been a database issue today, i doubt it's your end. I've only just been able to get on.

I have been trying to work out how the database does that, suddenly loose bits of code.

Dunno to be honest. Maybe it's a bit like hard drives fragmenting. They get a ton of data in one go when you sign in. It's tracking the topic scores, the posts, your session time, read topics, PMs etc etc. When you log out it can sometimes screw things up a bit and it seems to be cumulative. Then you get to a point where it's all in a mess but table repair scripts seem to 'defrag' it.

Just fixed this again.

I think the word search table is getting too big. It's basically every different word ever used on the forum. I'll sort it out tonight.

Good job.

I spose the following doesn't help then:

Unique lacuna es effrego database.
- When trouble arises and things look bad, there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that individual is crazy.
- If youre paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many pancakes fit in a doghouse? None! Icecream doesn't have bones!!!

ok I just removed 69,178 words from the search table :)

Hopefully that will stop the table corrupting.

speaking of searches.... any idea why the forum search function currently isn't working... and hasn't been working for several weeks?

I'm surprised that no-one else has brought it up yet.

That's odd, Todd.

No matter what I search for, even if it's a really common term that should return tens of results, I always get "No topics or posts met your search criteria"... :melt:
