Firefox2

Post by Big Kev »

I dunno if anyone else has noticed but hot on the heels of IE7, you can download RC3 of Firefox2 on the homepage.

Looks a bit more 3d and has a built in spell checker for people like 4th :D It underlines wrongly spelt words in red and allows you to right click and choose from a dictionary list.

Is this one more stable, I tried RC2 and within 30 seconds of me firing it up it crashed, so I uninstalled it, and went back to FF 1.5?

Could have been an incompatibility with some of your older extensions??

FF2 has worked perfectly for me since RC1

Hit reply
Then right click the reply window and you get the option to add more dictionaries.

Then you can add this
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3099/

same, i'm loving it. It's also managed to set the google homepage properly now instead of the google.co.uk.

I have been thinking of installing firefox for sometime now but I have been sticking with what i know. Is Firefox compatible with everything or am I going to have to spend ages downloading plugins or whatever in order to get certain pages to work. Also would you say it is more secure than IE? What about security updates etc?

You will have to install a flash plugin, and perhaps a windows media plugin. I think the reason it isn't included in the install is to save file size. To install, all you do is load up a page which has some flash content, and it asks you to download the flash plug in automatically.

For all the new users out there, one HIGHLY recommended app:

Adblock

It's an app you can use to set up rules for blocking various content... for example, some of the filters I have are: */ads/* */banner?* *ADSAdClient31.dll?* etc.

One of the best reasons to convert to firefox.
