Re: Richard Burns Rally - Offline Comp/ARSE rank
It's all right.
It still runs, just with no FFB. I'm happy to use that as an excuse for slow times...
Meanwhile, I've had a run at Chirdonhead:
3:46.76
My first proper time was a 3:51. This was about half-a-dozen trips to the trees later. This game is still frustrating to me, because the car doesn't behave the way I think it should.

I went for a leap or 10 off the mineshaft tonight, going for distance and style points. I'm a crusty demon!

Re: Richard Burns Rally - Offline Comp/ARSE rank
i think you just gotta look at it as a game VT, its never gunna be as cool as what you get to do :P but for the time being its the most accurate rally sim i know of. it takes some getting used to as well. shame about the FFB, its quite good in this game.

Re: Richard Burns Rally - Offline Comp/ARSE rank
I've been working on the setup of my car and I think I've made an improvement.
By raising the car a bit, firming up the rebound rate (especially on the rear), softening the normal bump rate and softening the fast bump rate, I've managed to make it so that the car doesn't always want to launch into space off the slightest bump. It takes a slightly larger bump before you do a barrel-roll in mid-air.
I can't help but feel that gravity doesn't have quite the same effect in the game as it does in real life...
I've also eased the front diff torque just a tad (two or three clicks) and firmed the centre diff torque (to about 700Nm from memory) which also seems to help with driveability.

Well, I reckon I could get down to 3:38, but I'd have to practise a bit and be lucky.

Re: Richard Burns Rally - Offline Comp/ARSE rank
i dont believe i said that, if you wanted to start a new rank for modded cars then you can if you like... but it kinda negates the point of a ranked system if someone is driving a faster car.

XP64 doesn't want to play nice with it for me... even after switching from ati to nvidia card. So figure it mustn't like 64 bit.
Spewing because I really want to give it a go, but can only get half a stage before it freezes.
I admit defeat.
