That's an oldie of the F-4M but I love it. The dirty grey scheme always does it for me on warplanes. USN aircraft often turn up like that too (although a bit darker).

Medellin, 1978 -It was a stunt flight, empty plane, run way is under the recommended length so he had to come in low and slow to make full use of what is there.

And it pulled a crowd.

Hmmm.... Weathering up nicely. They look much better than they did when the paint was fresh.

I hadn't seen those ones above from Wobbly. Some crackers in there.

And those engines the MiG-25 are huge!

The MiG-25 engines are 1.5 metres across. Well Mick, since you enjoyed that one...

I'm a bit of a Foxbat/Foxhound fanboi, with a strong preference for the hound dog. The MiG-31 was the aircraft which brought the illustrious career of the SR-71 to a close.

Neither aircraft is well understood in the West.

The SR-71 was probably the greatest aircraft ever designed and it would tke a great aircraft to defeat it. The Foxhound was - and probably still is - a great aircraft.

It wasn't until I first saw pictures of Belenko's MiG-25 that I appreciated the size of the thing. And yeah, I'm a fan of the MiG-31 too. It has to be the last of the pure interceptors designed wouldn't it? Tornado ADV might be around the same time (also liked that one). The Foxbat/Foxhound are such pure examples of that twin engine, twin tail, high speed sort of design. Very Soviet details though.
