You get it in October. We get it on release :p
I'll be able to tell you if it's any good at the weekend. I'm driving 160 miles to my parents on friday night so I'll give it a shot.

I'd think it would still need to download maps on the fly, which means you would need reception for it to work. Phones usually don't have the best GPS reception either. I doubt it will replace my Garmin, but still handy as a backup.

Looks like Apple have sorted out their server capacity.

I plugged my phone in to make a backup in readiness for installing iOS6 tomorrow night and it asked if I wanted to download so I thought, yeah why not.

An hour later and I'm running iOS6 :)

Seems ok so far

I too have updated to IOS6 after Kev's endorsement. All went smoothly & it was definitely quicker to download the package via iTunes.

Not a huge fan of the new colors used in things like music player & phone dialer. But it's only cosmetic so no big issue really.

Umm so a new podcast app is available. Might be a nice GUI but not a fan that it removes them from being accessible in the music app. Beware!!!

There is also an Apple Find Friends app, looks like their own version of a social network like Facebook / Google+.
Why??? We have enough social apps as it is.

Think I'll give the new iOS a miss on my iPhone 4....

Every 'upgrade' makes the phone slower!

Can't say I've noticed it being any slower even though reports are saying it can be. If it is I can't detect it but I didn't do any real testing & can't now anyway. Hahaha...

Actually I'll take some of my gripes back. The new iOS6 podcast app rocks, can finally subscribe, auto-download & manage files within app on device. Sweet!!!

So less interaction with iTunes PC client, that is a great thing IMHO. :D

I noticed that in the new itunes (out in a couple of weeks) they've quietly dropped Ping, their musical social networking thingy. So if the one in FMF doesn't come off, no doubt they'll drop it after a couple of years. I wasn't particularly happy that it said right do you want me to import all your friends from facebook? Erm... no. Far too much cross integration on some of these apps.

Yep I agree Kev, let me decide what I want to cross-integrate rather than have it activated by default. Too much like FB's methodology for my liking.
Luckily they can be switched off in the options but its a hassle working through it all.

I just read the default clock app has finally had an update with many great new features added, more inline with 3rd party apps.

I'm really starting to like this iOS6 upgrade as I like less apps having more features, the "KISS" principal is what attracted me to the iPhone in the 1st place. :)

All part of the plan to make you upgrade :)

servers must be getting a hammering, saying the download will take 8 hours.

We're opening the store an hour early tomorrow for launch... That doesn't usually happen. Most new phones get a couple of posters.

Hahaha. Farken Apple fanboi's.

As much as I like my iPhone I'm not giddy over it or Apple.

Will check out an iPhone 5 soon but don't think I'll upgrade as I'm still in contract & the iPhone 6 will be nearly out when I need to renew.
That's if work puts it on our staff plans which I doubt. :(

You should have seen the iPad3 launch... Grown adults literally running into the store. The whole thing is sad. I couldn't help but laugh in disbelief at these infantile adults. The other thing I get sadistic satisfaction from is telling the rich arseholes that come into the store that I can't sell them a new iPhone outright. We don't do that when it's just been launched. There's too much demand for them so they want to get people onto contracts. It's a bit stupid, but it's fun telling those stuck up wankers I won't sell them a phone. They are so used to getting whatever they like with their money, it's fun to tell them 'No'.

From Macrumors

With iOS 6 released to the public for just over 24 hours now, Apple's new and highly touted Maps application has received a large amount of public criticism over missing features and glitches. Google has already submitted its own iOS Maps app to Apple, but the company has responded via a public statement issued to AllThingsD:

"Customers around the world are upgrading to iOS 6 with over 200 new features including Apple Maps, our first map service," said spokeswoman Trudy Miller. "We are excited to offer this service with innovative new features like Flyover, turn by turn navigation, and Siri integration. We launched this new map service knowing it is a major initiative and that we are just getting started with it. Maps is a cloud-based solution and the more people use it, the better it will get. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better."
Later in his piece, AllThingsD writer John Paczkowski says the developer team assigned to the Maps app is "under lockdown" working to fix the app.

Assuming you could use Apple maps to find Steve Jobs grave, I imagine he'd be rolling like a bastard right now.

So you gotta be rich to afford a new apple product? I agree with a lot of stuff you say...but not that...:)

Nothing to do with apple. The area the store is in.

Amazing. Some people charge just to stand in lines and others queue just to sell their spots.
