One of the really big disadvantages to shooting RAW. It takes ages.SHoNKY wrote:Ouch! That sounds expensive to fix. Bad luck SE1Z.SE1Z wrote:I ended up coming home early.... My passenger side drive shaft is rooted and is pissing out gearbox oil

Yep, and I forgot to switch over to JPG. Didn't even realise til I was leaving.SHoNKY wrote:Hehe, I seem to remember someone mentioning to me that it's a good idea to take jpgs if you intend to take a lot of photos on an outing. Can't think who that might have been.

Dont expect too much. Didn't have the best hit rate today for some reason. Probably not much panning practice of late.SiD wrote:Was it me?SHoNKY wrote:Hehe, I seem to remember someone mentioning to me that it's a good idea to take jpgs if you intend to take a lot of photos on an outing. Look at those shiney hard tyres. SE1Z went a little wide 1st time out.
Getting the thing wet on the way to the garage.
Had aplay with a LOMO action in Photoshop for shit and giggles. Thought it came up ok.
Click the photo for the large version.
Steve, these are on Flickr. If you don't want them there, let me know.

Here are the results from the 2nd AutoSports Skidpan event:
I had a shocker!
My plan was to NOT use my good wheels and tyres (Pirelli P-Zero Nero's) this time as I had worn them a bit on the outside at the last event.
BIG mistake!
I put on a set of 16inch stockies with what looked like OK tyres, I couldnt have been more wrong!
The first go I had on the slalom I overshot the 'garage' by a good car length... the ABS kicked in the second I slammed the brakes on, losing me a LOT of time and distance :/
With the Pirelli's on at the last skidpan day, ABS didnt engage until I had almost made a complete stop....
Then on the skidpan, I had NO grip whatsoever on the wet stuff, coming off the last turn thru the water, even the slightest amount of throttle would spin ALL 4 WHEELS... that is no good... Lost a lot of time due to understeer and had to completely change my driving style for my second runs in the morning.
Just goes to show... Decent tyres make a LOT of difference to not only the handling, wet and dry, but also your braking.
I generally do spend a fair amount on 'sticky' tryes, I really don't care that i'll only get ~30,000km's out of them as they are the only thing between you and the road, all the handling and brake mods in the world wont help if your tyres aren't up to the task.
Cheers,
Steve

Best way to do this is to have some other poor bastard give you their car to do it in, so you can hand it back without having to fix it. I have been lucky enough to have car companies gladly hand over their vehicles and even provide tires, support etc! Haven't done this for a year or so and I'm not sure if I miss the headaches, but it sure looks like fun in that Rex Steve!
