I had a play with rift support this morning. Something weird is going on for me. I'm not getting 90fps but had a look at my GPU and it's only working 70% at the most. Something is throttling the game at the moment as every other game seems fine.

It will be great once it's working I'm sure, but at the moment, it's not performing well.

So for non-Rift users, 10GB gives them one new feature... Surely they could've had this as an opt-in download???

No biggie. I'll pick it up next week. Not your fault mate, I hadnt played Dirt in about 2-3 months and for some reason my mind was saying, this should be in the snow as I recalled comments on this forum of people sticking it in the snow banks. It didnt click that it was Monday night till I retired from stage 2 and being Monday is why there were no other times on the leader board... My cock up!

My stage 1 time is hopefully handy, it felt fast with only one error. It felt like a blind rally. :D
No prep, no seat time for a few months and jumped straight into the league stage and started thrashing it.

Afterwards I had a good thrash about in various events last night. I almost forgot how intense this one is. Cracking fun.!

Release notes often don't list all changes, just the major ones.

My guess is they tweaked something on all the tracks which changed a bunch of the larger files. Patching files isn't always possible, especially if they're using encryption/drm on them.

Had to draw a number map of my buttons so I could have a reference sheet to where they are.

Thought I had understeer everywhere in the Mini, turns out I just needed more lock. Set the wheel rotation down to 360 and it feels much nicer to drive. Immediately went from finishing stages 30-40 seconds behind the AI to finishing 5-15 seconds ahead.

VR works great. I set it to ultra and it's nice and smooth. Does seem to be a fair amount of steering lag, but it's not too much of a problem. Not sure if it's lag or just the animation because it doesn't always reflect what my wheel is doing. Only issue I've had is that sometimes when I go to drive it leaves me at the virtual monitor. I have to exit out of the stage and start it again.

Ahhhhhh crap...I was worried that would be the case. I'm barely getting 50-60fps, which shouldn't be the case with a 1080 strix .

I guess investigation is required.

I'm using the latest nvidia driver. There's a bug which stops it from boosting clock speeds when vr games are running. I get 1600 but it seems to be enough. Maybe yours is running slower? Check your clock speeds with oculus home running. If they're bad try reverting to the previous nvidia driver.

I'm not doing super sampling with the debug tool. Just the in game ultra preset.

Look at it! Bloody stage 2 in Finland in the Arse comp. Crest jump tree, crest jump pole and a few barrels rolls to kick it while it was down. No power for the rest of the stages. :(

I've jumped in from a Lancia Stratos to modern 4WD and I wasn't pushing hard enough, and when I did I wreaked the car. Still great fun though!

And here's why everyone needs NBN...it's not even up to full speed, a minute later it's 1.4GB down 14 mins to go

Codemasters released first virtual reality support for their DiRT Rally title earlier this week, making the title compatible to the Oculus Rift headset.
Thanks to Revive and a little fiddling, GamerMuscle has also managed to get DiRT Rally to work with HTC’s Vive headset, even though the hardware is not officially supported by the game just yet.
So which of the two headsets works best with DiRT Rally? The officially-supported Oculus or the Vive? GamerMuscle breaks it down in his newest video below!

HTC VIVE
– Wider FOV
– More crisp screen
– No need to move around tracking cam on simrig
– Brighter more vivid screen with better contrast
– Steam VR lets you check desctop without taking HMD off
– Better screen accommodation / stereo cross over

Oculus Rift
– Asynchronous time warp lets you run higher settings and not notice lower frame rate
– Head set easier to take on and off
– Officially supported first – natively supported.
– larger sweet spot

So i jumped into Dirt Rally to give the arse Champs a go, and wow... okay.

I dont know if its my PC or DIRT but at the start of Stage 1, i had 60FPS (vsync) and by the end of the long 16km stage I had 20. the menus and everything stayed at 20 after, restart Dirt goes back to 60, and repeat.

formatted my computer, as there were something else going on with it, and I hope it will fix it all........

I should have done more practice in the car before doing the league. It's a bit of a jump from the 70's escort to the 2001 cars. Just did a recce then went for it. Was way too cautious for the first 2 stages but was on pace for the rest. Stuffed the 2nd last stage though. Ran wide and thought I'd just knock that small sign pole down, but no. Then later I got massive air on a big jump and couldn't stop before the following corner. Super fun stages though :)

For me it was only showing the best time and my time for the stage followed by the event standings.
