Simple for me - I like having my own ringtone - the same one I've had for the last 6 years. On android I copied it across from my old phone, easy. On an iphone I would have had to go through some stupid work around including installing itunes just to get it across. Syncing my Outlook, gmail, twitter, facebook and flickr and merging them all into the one contacts list in a couple of minutes after first plugging my phone into my PC was a nice bonus after that.

Well I got a new gadget today, a replacement work phone.

I had a choice of iphone or Blackberry. I chose the later purely on its ability to handle email, outlook and associated stuff (Calendar ect) plus the physical keypad.

Its an interesting combination of my previous BB (Bold 9000) and and iphone for the want of a better description!

Has the touch screen, but also the qwerty KB that I like so much, it slides...

Here tis..

Have to say, after a couple of hours of playing, its a great advance for RIM.

Anyone else got a BB?

Despite anything I might have said to the contrary - I ended up ordering a Desire HD via Vodaphone ($45 infitine plan). I changed my prepaid phone to $10 a month post paid with TPG, great value! Phone will arrive early next week I hope.

Now we might need a thread on which Android apps to get :)

Kwiji, another decent app is Google Sky Map which is great for a quick way to find the southern celestial pole for those star trail photos ;)

Cant wait to get it now - bloody vodaphone still have it as "order being processed" though. So much for 1-2 days delivery!

Don't you sync your "contacts" with an address book of some kind on your computer/cloud?

Turns out I was able to bluetooth them over to the new phone.. so crisis averted. Even better, the phone syncs up all my facebook contacts to my phone contacts, giving everyone stupid little profile pics :)

Yeah it's crazy. In 10 minutes I had synced my Desire with my gmail contacts, outlook contacts, facebook friends and flickr friends - all linked into each other.
