Re: General F1 news
The Mclaren boffins have crunched the numbers and have concluded that they would be mixing it more with Ferrari and Merc in Singapore with a Renault. They all take sonic measurements. After their positions in FP3, there seems nothing not to bad with the chassis and mechanical grip.

Yeah it's now looking like Aston will make the combustion engine bit and they'll keep Ilmor on for the hybrid parts. Keeps the costs low for all parties.

Pierre Gasly will make his Formula 1 debut with Toro Rosso at this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix.
The 21-year-old Frenchman, who won the GP2 series last year, will replace Daniil Kvyat "for the next Grands Prix", Toro Rosso said in a statement.

Yep. The Malaysian race has disappeared off the tenplay online tv guide for Sunday, and it was there yesterday.r8response wrote:Free-to-air Formula 1 coverage slashed

Murdoch couldn't buy 10 so he's taking his ball and going home. Gotta laugh at how they fucked themselves over with that effort.

Would it be that reason or maybe CBS is making savings where they can, seeing they're already financially supporting Ten.

Re: General F1 news
Yeah, could just be dumping all their expensive content. Seems odd to suddenly drop it like that but they might be desperate. There's speculation they'll lose V8's and MotoGP as well.
Just think how many episodes of mash they'll be able to show when they get rid of all the interesting content.

Re: General F1 news
Williams have narrowed the 2018 driver choice to three options, with Paul di Resta and Robert Kubica both set to receive test time ahead of a final decision later this year.
With Williams obliged to have at least one driver over the age of 25 thanks to Martini sponsorship, the Grove based team are casting around for a full time partner alongside Lance Stroll next season, narrowing down the options to current incumbent Felipe Massa, test and reserve driver Paul di Resta or former race winner and fan favourite Robert Kubica, looking to continue on his comeback trail after finding himself left out in the cold following Renault's signing of Red Bull junior driver Carlos Sainz.

Re: General F1 news
I reckon Di Resta will get it. He's not exactly Mr Personality but he's got a good clean cut corporate image and was relatively impressive to step in at Hungary with zero testing and qualify well inside 107%.
While Kubica would make a fantastic story I think he needs a bit more testing out than just a couple of days mid-season. They're not even sure he can do a full 90 minute race yet.

LOL at Loois dobbing on Vettel for taking the wheel at Malaysia.
Loois admitting he undoes his belts was great, but Charlie's look when he heard it.
The real gold is in the comments. Jesus.

Grosjean raises a a valid point, drivers shouldn't be allowed to undo or loosen belts on the show down lap. They'd still be doing close to 100kph in spots and as we saw last race, accidents can happen after the race. The FIA is all about safety so they should be on to that one.

Well they are.
Remember it use to be a sport where you were told what to do. Bernie, Max Mosley and others wouldn't take much shit from anyone but it is changing. Charlie seems to be quite a cool head.
