seriously your cheapest option might be to catch a redeye flight each side...
Book me a ticket, ill come and get it and bring it back to Melb...

Toll, Fastway couriers i've had guitars shipped by both of them and they came in top shape except for 1 or 2 holes in the package. don't know if they do insurance but they should anyway.

All the big courier services offer insurance, but I wouldn't trust them myself, not with an expensive guitar.
We have a few places here in sydney called "Pack and Send" where you can go, get them to provide the right packaging and insurance and courier service. It's more expensive of course but you'll get a safe delivery.
Not sure if there's something similar down there?

yes it's now in sunny QLD, luckily it went to a good home, the dude is a bit of a collector and has a few nice guitars and has wanted a Belman since he played one a few years back. He has a les paul, Strat and Tele, so it's sitting with some fine company which i'm glad of. Last thing i wanted was for some dude to say 'yeah we're doing a film clip and need to smash a guitar'
