The green flag is waving for iRacing 2022 Season 4! This season includes the release of iRacing’s first fully electric race car, the Porsche Mission R, a pair of new European Road Courses, Motorsport Arena Oschersleben and Rudskogen Motorsenter, and a new Dirt Oval, Lucas Oil Speedway. We’ve added Indianapolis Motor Speedway - IndyCar Oval using our 2022 laser scan data, and have rebuilt all of the artwork for both the ARCA Menards Chevrolet Impala and Lotus 79 from scratch. New Damage Model
The New Damage Model algorithm has received an extensive update where damage from a collision is now calculated based on impact energy instead of raw impulse magnitude.
- - Bending and breaking now occur when the energy associated with the impact exceeds the yield and break limits set in joules. In this manner, prior sustained damage is accumulated and subsequent impact joules are added to the affected car parts. This makes it now possible to cause breakage due to prolonged smaller impacts over time. Previously, damage and breakage would only happen when the impulse magnitude was beyond the force limits at the time of impact. This provided a less realistic damage over time experience, and led to seemingly brittle behaviors.
- - All New Damage Model-enabled cars now utilize this “Energy Damage System”.
- - As a result of this systemic change, all vehicle break limits have generally been adjusted down slightly based on recalculations for damage properties.
The algorithm for preventing meshes from snagging on uneven ground surfaces has been updated.
Track edge calculations are now more precise.
Fixed an issue with hinged mounts and tether forces.
Fixed an issue where spring dampers could sometimes receive damage while in the garage.
Fixed an issue where cars could sometimes rise up on their suspension when initially dropped into the world.
Fixed an issue where wheels could suffer damage if hyper-extension limits were reached while in the pits or entering the world.

Spotter
The spotter has improved his English skills after auditing an iRAI University class and no longer pluralizes the phrase, “one laps to green”.

Graphics
The number of possible dynamic and fixed cubemap updates have been reduced.

Virtual Reality
Fixed an OpenXR issue where the view could flip upside down when tracking is lost.
Fixed a crashing issue with OpenXR that could occur if the Sim loaded without the HMD ever being successfully tracked at all.
Fixed an OpenXR issue where the 3D view could freeze during loading whenever motion reprojection is enabled via the WMR runtime.

Visual Effects
All car windshield reflections have been updated.
Grass and debris kick-up clouds linger slightly longer.
All particle effects in the Simulator have had some underlying code updated.

Audio
The Low-Frequency Effects (LFE) bass shaker system has had an extensive rewrite. These updates include:
- - LFE effects are no longer influenced by the Simulator master volume. They now only rely on their own separate LFE master volume to control their force level.
- - The signal path has been cleaned up to eliminate clipping as well as to remove a compressor that was adding distortion. This will cause a change in the signal balance for all effects, you will need to remix them if you have made changes.
- - New LFE effects have been added for a variety of sounds, including: starter, engine blowout, rocks, backfires, a new pit speed limiter effect as well as road noise.
- - Some amplifiers have a limiter on the input signal that causes distortion of the LFE effects. A new LFE option to add a -10 dB cut is now available that reduces the input signal below the amp cutoff. If you are using a ButtKicker brand amp, or feel that some effects are being lost, then enable this in the LFE options.
- - For the LFE system, the ability to select channels has been removed from LFE in an effort to simplify the configuration. By default all LFE will play on the stereo front channels of your assigned sound card, and for almost all users this is the correct way to configure things.
- - - - If you need to access the channel mappings you can bring it back by setting "[BassShaker] DisplayLFEChannels=1" in the "app.ini" file.
- - A new high pass filter is now available for use with all LFE bass shaker effects.
- - - - This system is disabled by default (value of -1), but may be used to help tame shakers that have an overly strong resonant frequency. In the "app.ini" file, adjust the entry, "[BassShaker] freqPhysHighpass_Hz=-1" to a positive value, such as 25 Hz. 25 Hz is a conservative value, if your shaker misbehaves then try raising this up to 50 Hz.
- - For even more detailed information on all these updates to the LFE system, check out a Members Forum post by our very own David Tucker here: https://forums.iracing.com/discussion/c ... ent_222965
Retuned the balance of pager motor vibration for pedals and game controllers.

User Interface
The brake and throttle meters now correctly show brake and traction aid effects.
The mouse-over tooltip for the Force Feedback Strength Slider has been improved.

Driving Aids
Pit Entry and Exit blue driving aid lines have been added to ALL Road Courses, and a blue cone has been added if one was missing.

Controls
For the Controls mapping section of the Options Screen, whenever you hold a control from your keyboard, wheel, mouse, or other device, if that key is already bound, it will now blink so you can easily see what controls are mapped.
Fixed an issue that disabled the ignition switch when the text chat window was opened. You may now use an on/off toggle switch on the ignition without issue.
Fixed an issue that prevented controls from working when the garage or options screens were opened. You can now map a button to recenter your VR display or to take screenshots when in the garage or options dialogs. This only works with joystick button inputs for the time being, a keyboard input will not work yet.
Fixed an issue that was causing wheels with shift indicators to blink when you exit your car when the pit speed limiter is active.

Spotter
Additional spotter messages have been added to the Spanish language pack.
- - Thank you, Ari Cejas!

Telemetry
A new telemetry value, “MemSoftPageFaultSec” has been added which goes along with the existing “MemPageFaultSec” to complete the data found in the 'P' meter.
A new telemetry string, “DriverCarIsElectric” has been added for the player car YAML string, and “CarIsElectric” for each car.
The value units for “FuelLevel” live telemetry is now changed to kWh if the car is electric.
Fixed an issue where status meter telemetry was outputting all zeros.

NEW TRACK!
A new Dirt Oval, Lucas Oil Speedway, is now available for purchase in iRacing!
- - Wheatland, Missouri's Lucas Oil Speedway is a motorsport playground unlike almost any other in America; from drag boats to off-road racing, the complex has it all. But none of that would've been possible without the opening of Wheatland Raceway as a 3/8 mile dirt oval located in a former agricultural field in 2001. Three years later, Lucas Oil purchased the facility and rebuilt it, renovating both the track and its surrounding amenities to become one of the premier facilities in the country. Known as "The Diamond of Race Tracks," the centerpiece clay-surface dirt oval remains unchanged in length from its original opening. With VIP luxury suites and a giant HD screen on site, fans attending races at Lucas Oil Speedway are treated to an on-site experience unlike most other dirt tracks in the nation. Hosting both national and weekly local events, only the best sprint car, late model, midget, and modified talent in the country is able to say they've taken the checkered flag in Wheatland.
Add Lucas Oil Speedway to your collection by purchasing it from the iRacing Store here:

Motorsport Arena Oschersleben
NEW TRACK!
A new Road Course, Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, is now available for purchase in iRacing!
- - Germany’s Motorsport Arena Oschersleben became the fourth permanent racing facility to open in Germany when its doors first opened in 1997. A longtime host of FIA GT, DTM, and international touring car events, it will welcome the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series for the first time in 2023, and currently serves as the host of the FIM Sidecar World Championship for motorcycles. Oschersleben’s Grand Prix layout clocks in at 2.297 miles (3.696 km) and gets going with a lengthy frontstretch before a hard left turn leads into the sweeping right-hand Hotel corner. The hard braking before Turn 1 can often cause incidents between drivers at the start of races, so extra care is required to get the best possible start. Our Grand Prix layout replaces the abrupt left-hander with a less harsh version designed to keep two-wheel racers safer.
Motorsport Arena Oschersleben includes four configs: Grand Prix, Alternate, B Course, and C Course.
Add Motorsport Arena Oschersleben to your collection by purchasing it from the iRacing Store here:

Rudskogen Motorsenter
NEW TRACK!
A new Road Course, Rudskogen Motorsenter, has been added to iRacing!
- - For more than 30 years, Rudskogen Motorsenter has served as Norway’s oldest asphalt racetrack. Opened in May 1990, the track sits in an ideal spot for racing: not only does its forest terrain provide a scenic backdrop and ideal variation in elevation (nearly 140 feet), but the track’s southern location also enables it to stay open for driving experiences for as long as possible each year. From the Porsche Carrera Cup to Gatebil, it’s one of Scandinavia’s most prominent hosts of professional racing events. After two decades in operation, the track received a redesign from world-renowned circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The resulting 2.022-mile (3.254-km), 14-turn circuit is in use not only for professional racing and driving events, but also for driver training and track days, and includes Tilke’s signature mix of long straightaways and tight, technical sections. With an extended fleet of both Porsche and Mercedes GT vehicles, it’s an ideal training ground for those looking to gain experience in competitive sports cars of all types.
Rudskogen Motorsenter has been added to the iRacing base content and is FREE for all iRacing Members!
AI Racing is now available at this track!

2022 Season 4 Patch 1 Hotfix 1 Release Notes [2022.09.21.02]
This Hotfix contains several updates and fixes for the 2022 Season 4 Release.

iRACING UI:
--------------------------------------------------------------
General
If iRacing detects you are using an unsupported version of Windows, or iRacing is currently set to utilize a Windows Compatibility Mode for an unsupported version of Windows, a warning message will be displayed as iRacing launches (if able).

SIMULATION:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Controllers
Support has been added for separating triggers on more XInput devices.

Race Control
Fixed an issue at tracks like Wheatland where the pace car pulls off immediately after the Start/Finish line after going “one to green”, so if the leaders haven't crossed the Start/Finish line yet, the race could immediately go green instead of letting them do the final pace lap.
Fixed an issue where cars involved in incidents that cause Cautions get marked incorrectly in the pace order. This could cause them to get a wave around at the “One to Green” right after they get shuffled to the back of the line, but then they are immediately slotted in behind the pace car ahead of the field, negating the wave around, and losing their position.
For the Tire Compound Change Rule, fixed an issue where the pace car indicated it needed to change its tire compounds, or it would be disqualified.
Split times are now using the correct precision to ensure the displayed values in the sim and the results match exactly.
Fixed an issue that could cause user laps to be marked as invalid if they ended qualifying in an unscored state. This could also impact future events hosted on that race server.

Spotter
Fixed an issue with the left/right calls in the Spanish language spotter pack.
- - Thank you, Ari Cejas!

User Interface
Fixed an issue with the F1 black box that caused the Driver Ahead/Behind lap times to not be reported.
In the Session Information tab, fixed an issue where the measurement units were not updating properly when their format was changed.

CARS:
--------------------------------------------------------------
<Car Class> NASCAR Classic 1987 Cars
The yield and break limits for most body panels have been reduced.

Aston Martin DBR9 GT1
Increased yield limits of roof mounts.

Chevrolet Corvette C6.R
Decreased yield limits for nose, hood, and rear mounts.

(Limited and Pro) - Fixed an issue where these cars had the incorrect DIRTcar sponsorship.

Dirt Sprint Cars (All)
NDM material properties were updated for this vehicle.

Ford GT2/GT3
Increased yield limits of roof mounts.

Modified - NASCAR Whelen Tour Modified
iRacing setups have been updated with a road setup.

TRACKS:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Circuit of the Americas
Track surface parameters have been adjusted slightly. This will result in a very minor grip reduction.

Fuji International Speedway
Track surface parameters have been adjusted slightly. This will result in a very minor grip reduction.

Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg
(All PEC Configs) - Fixed an issue that would lead to an error message about BMX files.

2022 Season 4 Patch 2 Release Notes [2022.10.12.02]
This Patch contains a plethora of updates and fixes for the 2022 Season 4 Release.

SIMULATION:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Race Control
At small tracks with very slow pace speeds the calculated green flag zone has been extended further back from the Start/Finish Line, leaving more time for race systems to calculate correctly.
- - This reduces the likelihood of triggering issues that could arise when the calculated green flag zone was only immediately adjacent to the Start/Finish Line, meaning that sometimes on restarts the leader could have crossed the S/F Line prior to the green flag, which could cause problems with scoring of laps, especially with the “Do Not Count Caution Laps” option enabled.

AI Racing
Fixed an issue with AI aggression where sudden and large steering inputs could occur when two or more AI Drivers were side-by-side on Road Courses.
Fixed an error with some AI Drivers ability to estimate fuel consumption.

Audio
For the Low Frequency Effects system, fixed an issue that could cause the full engine explosion LFE effect to trigger when any car engine exploded, not just the player.

Pits
Fixed an issue where the auto pit speed limiter was not disabling correctly during parade laps.
The auto pit speed limiter is now considered active during Test Sessions.

Camera
A new Mark Mode has been enabled that turns the camera into a measurement device.
- - Position the camera at the start of your measurement, hit Mark, and move to the end of your measurement and read out the X/Y/Z or direct distance (D) the camera moved.

Sporting Code
Several updates have been completed to the Official iRacing Sporting Code, including:
- - Information about TTRating has been added.
- - Language has been added informing users that they need to be prepared to submit evidence with every protest.
- - Adjusted information location and details about “Tanking” behavior for clarity.

CARS:
--------------------------------------------------------------
<Car Class> Touring Cars
Brake bias adjustment range has been updated.
iRacing setups have been updated.

Audi 90 GTO
Fixed an issue with a duplicate car number on the hood for paint pattern #1.

Ford GTE
Fixed an issue where some headlight bulbs could go missing.

Honda Civic Type R
The units used to measure oil pressure on the dashboard have been updated from decibar to bar.

Lotus 79
iRacing setups have been updated.

Porsche Mission R
Brake Bias is now adjustable in the garage to the same degree in which it is adjustable in-car.

Skip Barber Formula 2000
For the New Damage Model, yield and break limits have been reduced for wheels and some body panels.
For the New Damage Model, tire tread and sidewall properties have been independently updated.

TRACKS:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Bristol Motor Speedway
Fixed an issue where cars in position 24 at this track can sometimes get black flagged for entering closed pits when leaving the pits for parade laps.

Circuit Park Zandvoort
Fixed a bad pit-out merge checkpoint.

Daytona International Speedway
(2008 Configs) - Fixed an issue with some terrain pieces poking through environment objects.

Lucas Oil Speedway
Patched a seam in pitlane.

Road Atlanta
Patched a seam in the grass near the short course exit.
Removed some snagging monsters from gravel traps.

Rudskogen Motorsenter
Functionality has been added to the caution lights.

Sonoma Raceway
Removed a landmine from the apex of Turn 4.

Full 2023 Season 1 Release details are below.

SIMULATION:
--------------------------------------------------------------

Active Reset
A new feature is now available for iRacing, Active Reset!
Active Reset allows a driver in a solo offline session to set a single save point for their car state with a key press (Save Start Point). Then, the driver can create an end point, which loads the save point with another key press (Run).
- - When a save point is loaded (Run), the Simulator restores the saved car state into the Session. This includes all possible parameters for the car, such as: fuel amount, speed, RPM, precise car position and wheel rotation, tire wear, damage states, hybrid system values, etc. However, the world state is not reloaded - time continues normally despite reloading a previous car state. All world parameters other than the dynamic track state remain as they are, such as track temperature, weather, and air temperature, and telemetry continues on the normal linear path.
- - - - Active Reset works to automatically blend your current control inputs with those of the Save Start Point, to create a smooth transition experience.
Additionally, when Run is triggered, a new Custom Sector is created between the Save Start Point and the end point created on the track. White checkerboard pattern lines are placed across the track at the start and end of the Custom Sector.
- - For Active Reset, the delta bar reflects your performance through the Custom Sector. It is auto-enabled and selected along with a new delta box when a new Custom Sector is set for the first time.
- - - - The new Custom Sector delta box in the UI can be cycled through - like the all-time/session best, etc. The functionality for Custom Sector is similar, with Current, Last, and Best attempts listed.
- - Active Reset does not have any default key controls bound - be sure to select your desired keys in the Controls tab of the Options Menu.
If you wish to override the default Custom Sector Start and End Points that are set automatically when Active Reset is used, you can use the “Custom Sector Mark Start/End Point" controls available in the options menu.
- - This will allow you to set 3 important points on the track: Active Reset Start Point, Custom Sector Start Point, and Custom Sector End Point. Using the 4th control (Active Reset Run) allows you to go back to the beginning of these 3 points and practice again!
Some additional helpful information:
- - Holding down the Active Reset Run control will apply the Saved Start Point, but then pause the Simulator until you release it, allowing you to adjust your control inputs if desired.
- - Whenever a save point is loaded with Active Reset Run, the Current Lap attempt data is invalidated.
- - The Active Reset Save is cleared if the user enters the Garage.
- - The Custom Sector Checkpoint lines are not visible in Replays, and only the next checkpoint you will cross is visible at any time. Custom Sector Checkpoint lines are only visible if Custom Sector “Best Mode” is selected (default).
- - There is a 1.5 second cooldown period between the Save and Run actions.
- - There is a 4 meter minimum Custom Sector length.
- - By default, the Custom Sector Start Point is set 2 meters in front of the Active Reset Start Point. This can be ideal for practicing launches, as your attempt will not be timed until you launch!

Physics
Physics behavior related to wall-riding has been improved.
- - Dragging along a wall at various speeds and for various durations with all types of cars should more realistically penalize the driver.

Tire Model
Fixed a couple of bugs with saving and restoring tire states across certain session transitions, getting in/out of car transitions, as well as during team events when a driver change is made without also changing tires. These bugs could cause more tire degradation, and/or cause an incorrect change to the tire conditioning state.

Track Surface Model
A new dynamic track surface parameter system is now enabled: Track Polish!
- - Track Polish is the process by which an asphalt track’s surface is slowly polished by the tires running over its surface, smoothing the aggregate asphalt. This happens most often along the racing line, where many thousands of tires pass by. Depending upon tire conditioning and weather conditions, this can affect racing.
Track Polish has been implemented in such a way to affect racing as follows:
- - When racing on or near the racing line, grip should be roughly the same as it has been. However, as your move away from the optimal racing line, grip will gradually reduce in dry conditions.
- - Track Polish does not include other factors such as track age or rubber depositing on the track surface - Track Polish is independent of other track surface properties.
Track Polish is only enabled for Road Courses at the present time.

Soft Surface Model
The physics properties for soft surfaces and how tires interact with them have been updated.
- - All types of off-track soft surfaces now behave with more realism - grass, dirt, gravel, and sand are all softer and allow tires to sink into the surface slightly. These surfaces are all more naturally bumpy than their previous versions.
- - Rallycross and Dirt Oval and Dirt Road racing surfaces remain unaffected by these changes, as they already have track surface properties.

Pit Stop
Fixed an issue where team members, spotters, and spectators were not always seeing the pit speed limit in the interface.

Hybrid Systems
The logic for hybrid system deployment has been adjusted to improve performance when the player is on the throttle earlier than expected.

Team Racing
Fixed an issue where an extra set of tires could sometimes be consumed during a driver-swap if a driver teammate connected after the Race had already started and they took over the driving duties when the team had only consumed a single set of tires so far.

Fixed some errors found in our AI System code, including:
- - AI Drivers now utilize the correct stall for Lone Qualifying Sessions.
- - AI Drivers using vehicles with the Old Damage Model were not always getting contact incidents correctly.

New Damage Model
Friction energy calculations and parameters have been updated.
The algorithms for preventing mesh snagging for dirt tires on uneven ground surfaces have been updated.
Updated how energy is used by the particles and effects systems so they are more consistent.
Fixed an issue where some cars were incorrectly entering the world with failing setups.
Fixed an issue where some collisions were generating far more energy than they should have.
Fixed the occurrence of some erratic values for suspension and spring forces.

Graphics
For the SpeedTree system, added self-shadowing and upgraded to the latest version.
Fixed an issue where some fence textures could be rendered opaque when using certain shader settings.
Fixed an issue where brake glow was carried over from previous sessions.
Fixed some Graphics Options tooltips.

Visual Effects
Lighting for particle effects have been improved.
The PopcornFX system version has been updated.

Custom Paint Schemes
A new vehicle texture layer has been added to all vehicles which simulates an acrylic clear coat for all custom paint schemes.
- - This new texture layer allows you to put a clear shell over the existing paint scheme of the car with its own specular qualities separate from the underlying material. This is meant to replicate automotive paint jobs where the underlying car paint is overlaid with an acrylic clear coat.
- - To implement this on your custom paint schemes, adjust the blue channel on your existing specular maps (this channel in our spec maps was previously unused). This works in a very similar way to the green roughness channel that you may use currently to determine how shiny or dull the pixel will be. The shininess is determined by the color value of the pixel in the channel, across a spectrum of intensity.
- - The color values for this channel are as follows:
- - - - 0 to 15 RGB (black) = no clear coat
- - - - 16 RGB (nearly black) = 100% reflectivity, very shiny
- - - - 255 RGB (white) = 0% reflectivity, no shine
- - For existing Custom Paint Schemes, the value for this channel was 255 RGB, providing you with a fully shiny acrylic clear coat. To keep the pre-2023 Season 1 look for your Custom Paint Schemes, you will need to set this channel to have a 0 RGB value.
- - - - All of our Custom Car Paint Scheme Templates have been updated with this season's release to have the blue channel set to a 0 RGB value.

Audio
Harmonics have been added to the LFE effects to make them easier to feel on certain smaller shakers.
Some crash sounds for some New Damage Model impacts and events have been improved.
Fixed an issue that could have caused LFE and TrueForce effects to accidentally play when outside of the car in rare instances.

Spotter
The Ari Cejas - Spanish spotter pack has been updated.
- - Many thanks to Ari Cejas!

Controls
For the F9 Black Box, the key repeat up/down spin controls have been updated to match the rest of the black boxes.
- - Now pressing and holding down one of the buttons with your mouse will cause the value to increment continuously rather than needing to repeatedly click the mouse. This does not change the behavior of the black boxes “increment selected control” button mapping. That will continue to rely on keyboard key repeat behavior. The upshot is that if you map those to a button on a joystick you still won't get any key repeat behavior in any black box.
Fixed a bug that could show the wrong input on the options screen when switching from a joystick to mouse input on the steering or throttle controls. This did not affect the car when driving.

Force Feedback (FFB)
Some adjustments have been made to help make the Sim more safe.
- - The bump stops are now limited to a minimum of 10 degrees up from 0.5 degrees.
- - The ability to turn off the force limiter that suppresses signals in a crash has been removed.
- - Customers with inverted FFB signals have been reset, and the ability to invert the FFB signal via the “app.ini” file has been removed.
- - - - A warning dialog will appear if a user had their FFB signal inverted prior to this update. If you receive this warning, it is important that you contact customer support immediately so we can work out why it was set. Users that had this set will be unable to use the Simulator until this is fixed, as their wheel could spin out of control the next time you enter the car.
A limiter and damper to the FFB signal has been added that activates when it detects the wheel is spinning out of control. When activated a pink bar will appear at the top-end of the F-Meter with its length indicating the percentage of cut and damping being applied to the signal. You can also monitor this by watching the telemetry variable: “SteeringWheelLimiter”.
- - This safety feature will not activate during normal driving.
A new low-pass smoothing filter has been added for the force feedback signal.
- - By default this is setup to remove unwanted high frequency noise from the signal before downsampling and sending it off to the wheel. But by increasing the value you can further smooth out the signal at the expense of a little added latency. Note that this can not be used to stop your wheel from oscillating - in fact the more smoothing you add the more likely it is to oscillate. You can set the smoothing value to 0 to turn it off completely and return to the old behavior.
Linear mode is now the default for the force feedback effects. Non-linear mode is useful for weaker wheels like the Logitech G29, but linear mode works better for stronger wheels.
Some damping has been added to the end stops so the wheel is less likely to bounce off of them. Also no longer cut the end stop force when in a wreck.

Accessibility
The allowable range for audio sliders for drivers with a hearing disability may now be increased beyond the normal range.
- - If you need help setting up accessibility options, please contact Customer Service.

Race Start behavior has been better defined, including information about abbreviated starts, and rolling starts for Start Zones, Ovals, and Road courses.

Series Stats & Standings
A new home has been created for Series Stats & Standings in the iRacing UI!
A brand new Series Stats page can be found in the Results & Stats section by clicking on the “Series Stats & Standings" button on the side-bar. Here, you can find all of the iRacing Stats you have been accustomed to browsing through on the Classic Membersite.
- - Four Series cards are presented at the top of the page to provide users with quick access to their most recently run Series.
- - Below this, there is an overall list view of all Series for deeper browsing, complete with search functionality.
Clicking on a Series opens the Stats modal window for that Series.
- - You can browse all event types that exist for the selected Series, including Overall Season, Time Trial, and Qualify.
- - Filters are available for narrowing your search by Week, Club, and Division.
- - You can also view past Season Stats for the Series.

General

iRacing Credits will now expire 24 months after they have been granted to an account. See our announcement on the iRacing Forums here: https://forums.iracing.com/discussion/3 ... ted#latest
- - This policy has no effect on iRacing Dollars, which never expire. iRacing Credits can be used to make a large variety of purchases, and users can adjust their purchase settings so that iRacing Credits are spent before other types of currency.

Filters
Whenever active filters are causing no data to be displayed, a message informing the user of this is shown and a button is provided to clear the filters.
- - This is a new and different behavior than if no actual data exists to be displayed (such as if no Hosted Sessions are running at all).
By default, new iRacing users will have their Official Sessions filtered to only display Races for which they are eligible to join.

Series
A new tab has been added to the Series modal window: Series Stats.
- - This tab provides you with the full set of the Series Stats & Standings details for that Series.
A button has been added at the top-right of the Series modal window that links to the related iRacing forum for the Series.
The “Info” and “Paint” buttons are now readily available on the Car Card.

The first "12-Hour Grand Prix of Endurance" was held two years later, and for several years Sebring was the site of America's only real international races. In 1959 Sebring was the site of the first United States Grand Prix before the event found a permanent home at Watkins Glen. For nearly 60 years the world's top racers have competed for victory at this storied track nestled in central Florida's orange groves.

2023 Season 1 Patch 1 Release Notes [2022.12.20.03]
This Patch includes the release of the 2022 laser-scan version of Virginia International Raceway, night lighting for Lucas Oil Speedway, and a variety of updates and fixes for the 2023 Season 1 Release!

SIMULATION:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Race Control
For Start Zones, the leeway for determining a “Passed the Leader” black flag has been expanded slightly. It’s still risky business!

AI Racing
AI Racing is now available at ALL configs for Virginia International Raceway!
AI Drivers have improved their racing skills with the Toyota GR86.
Fixed an issue where the Simulator would crash to desktop if the host of a multiplayer Hosted AI Session exited the Session, and then attempted to rejoin the Session.
- - Remember, If the host of a multiplayer Hosted AI Session disconnects from the event, all AI Opponents will disappear. They will reappear on the track in the same place when the host reconnects.

Active Reset
Fixed an issue where the car could explode if an Active Reset was run where the car would warp directly through walls, bridges, or track surfaces in order to travel back to its starting location.
Fixed an issue where damage to the left-front wheel was getting applied to all wheels when Active Reset was run. The other three tires are no longer empathetic.
Fixed an issue where explosive forces could be applied if the car was in the process of crashing into objects when Active Reset was run.

New Damage Model
Fixed an issue where wheels on some cars were never getting fixed. This was especially noticeable when using the Healing Damage system with these cars, as the damage would immediately occur again after it was healed, leading to an endless cycle of self destruction. The cars repaired with this fix include the following:
- - Dallara iR-01
- - Formula Renault 2.0
- - Mercedes-AMG W12 E Performance
- - Mercedes-AMG W13 E Performance
Fixed an issue where break limits could be inverted after sustaining incremental damage. This could have explosive side-effects.

Graphics
Fixed an issue where night shadow maps could appear too dark or dim.

Visual Effects
Intensity of particle effects at night has been reduced.

CARS:
--------------------------------------------------------------
<Car Class> GT3 Cars
For the New Damage Model, substantially lowered break limits for all mounts.

BMW M4 GT3
For the New Damage Model, the nose piece will no longer detach, which could leave drivers without headlights. Hood mounts have been strengthened slightly.

BMW M Hybrid V8
For the New Damage Model, wheel tethers have been weakened to prevent them from spinning the car after high speed wrecks.

Dallara IR18
Fixed an issue where some car surfaces still appeared to have severe scrape damage without having damaged the car.
iRacing setups have been updated.

Dallara P217
For the New Damage Model, wheel tethers have been weakened to prevent them from spinning the car after high speed wrecks.
Fixed an issue where the rear brake light glow remained active even with the rear brake lights removed from damage.

Ford Mustang FR500S
Fixed an issue with mirror priority order.

Porsche 911 GT3 R
iRacing setups have been updated.

Toyota GR86
Tire compounds have been adjusted to address an undesirable "bicycling" behavior, especially at cooler temperatures.
Front ride height limits have been adjusted for lower ride height setups.
iRacing setups have been updated.

VW Jetta TDI Cup
The default car paint pattern has been updated to be pattern 0.

[Legacy] Dallara IR-05
This car has been renamed to “[Legacy] Dallara IR-05” from “[Legacy] IndyCar Dallara - 2009”.

Homestead Miami Speedway
A track config has been renamed to: “Open Wheel Oval” from: “IndyCar Oval”.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway
A pair of track configs have been renamed to: “Open Wheel Oval” and “Open Wheel Oval - 2009” from: “IndyCar Oval” and “IndyCar Oval - 2009” respectively.

Lucas Oil Speedway
Night lighting has been enabled on this track!

Sebring International Raceway
Removed a landmine from the track surface.
Fixed an issue with some missing concrete section in the final corner.

Sonoma Raceway
Three track configs have been renamed to: “Open Wheel 2012-2018”, “Open Wheel 2008-2011”, and “Open Wheel pre-2008” from: “IndyCar 2012-2018”, “IndyCar 2008-2011”, and “IndyCar pre-2008” respectively.

Virginia International Raceway
NEWLY REBUILT TRACK!
Virginia International Raceway is entirely brand new, with 2022 laser scan data and has been fully rebuilt with new artwork to bring this track into the modern age.
- - This track includes five configurations: Full Course, Grand Course, North Course, South Course, and Patriot Course.
This new track is included as part of the Base Content for iRacing, meaning it is 100% FREE for all iRacing Members!
AI Racing is available at all configs for this track!
The pre-existing version of Virginia International Raceway has been retired. It is no longer accessible or usable in any way on iRacing. It will enjoy its golden years under the shade of a great oak tree.

Indycar License Update

Our current license agreement with Indycar is set to expire on December 31, 2022. Indycar has signed an exclusive license with another developer that goes into effect on January 1, 2023. While we are still working on finalizing a new license with Indycar, it is clear there will be some notable changes to the way we are able to present Indycar racing on iRacing. Most significantly, we will no longer be able to run an official Indycar branded series and there will not be an iRacing Indy 500. You will also see the removal of the Indycar Series logo from our sites.

We plan to continue to support the Dallara race cars (IR18, DW12 & Dallara IR -05). There will be no changes (unlimited use and racing) in regard to the non-Indycar series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for other series – NASCAR, IMSA, etc. Until the new license agreement is finalized, we won’t know all of the details so there may be further changes.
