Re: arseRacing friends list/waiting list
I can't remember the names at all
I've started a thread on the subject on their forums, asking for optional nicks (eg you can enter your nick and if others want to see nick names they can see that in addition to the normal name) I think this would alleviate the problem for many, but most idiots there don't even understand what I proposed.
Some get very aggravated by the mention of nicknames, it's not realistic or what...but people have nicknames that's the reality. Oh well.

Re: arseRacing friends list/waiting list
that is true .. like the fights in LFS about making real racing . and some people don't want to use there real name
well if they add a nick name option like, [ show: real name | nick name ] , and if you wanted to see nick names click nick name
you could just use your real name in the nick name spot if you want to also if they use the same char cap

Re: arseRacing friends list/waiting list
Hm...maybe the problem is with me not really explaining the idea well.
The option would not be for you to decide if you want to show your nick, the only option for you is to fill your nick.
The full name would be compulsory still, as it was. But anyone could decide if they want to see these extra nicknames or not, thus those who hate nicks can leave it switched off, the rest of us could identify friends online without problems.

Re: arseRacing friends list/waiting list
Think of it like when you went to school. You start off with a real name and by the time you leave you have a name that you are known by from your mates. Grade 1 your are John Smith, by grade 10 you are Shagnasty or something. My school/footy mates from my youth called me Duke. fuck knows why or even how it came about. Around here I met all of you as Bauer (which I made up myself). now Stud seems to be what I get as a nickname more than anything else and is more of an earnt title than Bauer (not by deed though). Rod is a similar example.ysu wrote:Hm...maybe the problem is with me not really explaining the idea well.

I couldnt give a rats arse what the nickname of half the blokes I race against is, but I know a lot of you by your nicknames cos I have taken the time to make that recognition and connection. And I think you have to earn your the nickname, not just expect it. I expect to race against a lot of people that I would rather call me Stuart. They have to also earn the right to call me names
Anyway, not having a go at anyones idea or opinion, just exercising my own

Re: arseRacing friends list/waiting list
that is correct
but what i was meaning also was for if they did fill it out you could have the option of showing the nick name instead

Pinger$ and Sambo, PM me your full name and email address so I can send your names in.
It'll give you a better chance of getting in if they do another round of invites

Re: arseRacing friends list/waiting list
Well from the email I got today everyone who has registered for updates will get an invite by the end of Aug.
The experience has also confirmed that our invitation-only approach to the initial launch was the right thing to do. Having avoided most of the potential pitfalls, and with the development team hard at work, we are right on schedule for general launch at the end of summer. For those who have registered on our public site and are still awaiting invitations, please be patient. Our next wave – which, like the first two waves, will be chosen at random from our registrants’ database – is scheduled to go out in about two weeks, just after the start of the new iRacing competition season. And all who register will receive an invitation before the end of August.

Re: arseRacing friends list/waiting list
Well if your lucky you may get one in 2 weeks but definitely by the end of Aug, the way it reads.
It suits me just fine as I am still waiting for both the TDF to finish and a new G25 to be replaced under warranty.

OK, I just checked an email account that I setup ages ago and don't check very often, and guess what I found there? I must have signed up on that address ages ago and forgotten about it.
So,
