Re: VTRacing at Rally SA - **In-car on page 3 & 4**
Sorry mate, missed the entire weekend. Hope you did well in our forests!
Work sent me to Newcastle Friday morning and the wife had us go to a kids 3rd b'day party on Sunday. That was harsh, as the party was in Moonee right near all the action ... we even drove past up and down Bucca road to give my youngest a sleep. So close, yet so far to seeing rally action. ARGH!!
I did see your car on my way home from Newcastle on Saturday arvo, about 4:00pm you were heading into Urunga on the highway. Car looks good in the flesh, just wish I could have seen it in action and met you guys. Anyway, best of luck!

Matt ended up upside down at some stage in Heat 2. RESULTS
I hope every thing is ok with Matt and John.

Re: VTRacing at Rally SA - **In-car on page 3 & 4**
Every panel....
Sorry KNAPPO, I bent it...
We were going very well, we won Premier League for Heat 1 and finished 10th, which was pretty good considering that no one dropped out in front of us. Also considering that our car doesn't have the horsepower of the other cars in front, firstly because it's Group N and also because we have to run pump fuel. We backed off for the last two stages of Heat 1 because we were running short of fresh tyres and I wanted to secure the Premier League result. Otherwise we could have knocked off Bates and probably gotten close to Lowndes and Dowel too.
Heat 2 we started well, setting some good times on the first two stages, then on the third stage I just ran a bit wide on a downhill left, nudged a bank with the right rear, which then dragged the front in. The front then rode up the bank like a ramp and sent us flipping.
We ended up parked upside down, facing the wrong way off the other side of the road. It was pretty huge. So yeah, there's not a straight panel on the car, and I'm hoping that the roll cage is ok. The good news is that John and myself walked away unharmed (though a bit sore) so the cage and our seats and harnesses did their job.
The consolation is that I've shown the service park that I've got the speed. On some stages we were top 5, less than a second per km behind Eli in a fully-developed STi. I just need to learn to keep it on the road...
EDIT: Oh, and by the way, Wilks did a better job on the Honda. It's a throwaway, bent cage and broken chassis!
EDIT2: I don't know if this link will work, but there's a photo of the damage on the RallySport Mag site: http://www.rallysportmag.com.au/home/in ... Itemid=122

Re: VTRacing's Rallying thread - **Latest In-car page 5**
I have the video of the stack, but I reckon I'll keep it to myself for the moment.
I've spoken to the scrutineers this morning who've come and inspected the car (as they do) to make sure it can be safely repaired. They've given us the all clear, there is no serious structural damage to the car; the chassis rails are fine, the floorpan is still straight, all the strut towers and suspension mounting points are still in the correct positions.
There is minor damage to one secondary bar in the roll cage, but that can safely be replaced.
Which means that the damage is limited to the panels, essentially bolt on some new ones and we're good to go (not quite that simple but anyway).
So I am much happier now, knowing that we don't have to throw the car away and that if we repair it properly it will be as good as it was before. And that's great news.

Good news.....So you only up for a largish repair bill instead of massive....VTRacing wrote:I have the video of the stack, but I reckon I'll keep it to myself for the moment.

Well, more like large repair bill instead of throwing the car away and starting again...

Part of the next stage:

This was extremely quick and narrow towards the end. John seemed to enjoy it.
