I havnt seen the vid though.

I just wish they would fix the online part in GTR, if it had good online it would be the only game simmers would play!.
I can assure you that the driving/setup/damage etc component will be just as realistic as GTR. Lots of work going into the physics etc to get things spot on.

I'm not sure about the whole buying cars GT4 style though... Sure, a Mini may be fun to drive but I think I'll want to be in something a whole lot more powerful (and RWD) very quickly! :tilt:

Wasn't really thinking of getting GTL for similar reasons as to why I'm not getting GTR but the chance to drive some classic Alfa's could be the one thing to convince me to put starforce on my pc. As long as the physics are up to GTR standards and they finally get some decent netcode ;)

I dont think their unlock system will be any trouble, either there will be a cheat to get all cars or you edit your player.ini in some way...

Otherwise they would cut their own throats or? Not that they didnt in the past..

well, hopefully it can be modded to a further extent than GTR. if not, then this game will fall by the wayside as well

that and the multiplayer

That trailer just screams arcade to me but then it's obviously aimed at the general market. From what you can tell from a video the physics look alright.

No multi in demo and yes, it does have Starforce, so if those two things put you right off it then I wouldn't bother downloading it. :tilt:

the most interesting part would be the multi.
if it's the same buggy sh*t it was in GTR I won't pay for it.

I don't trust them to fix anything, as they did not fix GTR...
...so it's a wait and see for me.

1 other thing...
starforce is a copy protection system isnt it?
why include it as part of a demo?

also...
its a bit dodgy not to include multiplayer i reckon... after the shit they copped on the GTR netcode, I would have thought they would have multiplayer....

im with ysu, ill wait and see....

Starforce is in there because it has to be integrated into the .exe during development. It's not just stuck in at the end. It's one of the reasons why it's so hard to crack. And remember, it's the publisher who forces this stuff on the devs, not the devs themselves.

As for multiplayer, I don't know. It's still at least 2 months until the game is released so maybe it's just not done? Maybe the publisher decided they didn't want to have it in the demo?

In any case, despite what all we 'hardcore' sim racers think, the majority of sales for any off-the-shelf game are for offline players. So perhaps the online component just isn't seen as being quite as important (and rightly so in that case) as the offline so it's not needed in the demo? GPL and NR2k3 which are both still going strong didn't have online demos. Not as if it hurt either of those two.

In any case, you're right that wait and see is the best option. But if all you're interested in is online racing (and don't care about real cars, tracks etc) then it's hard to see anything being much better than LFS or maybe rFactor which are both pretty much billed as online racing sims.

Funny how this demo got out like the GTR press demo. So how many here are downloading it right now? I found the link on another site and its a tad slow at the moment.
