i finally got my guitar together, i'm pretty bloody happy with it. The Brierley pickups sound mega. It just need some tweaking to the setup now.

Love it Real bonus to making your own guitar that you do not have to provide multiple knobs for different sounds. It's setup how you like it period.

I'm finding of late that my tastes in pick up's have moved from active to passive. Been playing my Les Paul and Strat of late and they sound really good through the PC using a Mesa Boogie dual rectifier clone in software I have.

But what I think I'm hearing is actives sound really good through an amp live but in a studio or software environment, they are too full on and I have to roll the volume back. Cannibal Corpse use Boss Metal Zone pedals to push their triple rec's harder, not that they need it, but they found running their EMG 81's at 3/4 volume worked best. I guess it speaks volumes for Peavey's Revalver software as I find the same thing on a dual rec being pushed by a tube screamer.

I still like amps with 12 inch speakers but the software packages are pretty good. Anyone else finding this out?

I'm a fan of both actives and passives. I think because I'm a bass guy. I like the clarity an active gives but sometimes you need the warmth of a passive.

Put a new bridge/knobs on my precision bass today. I had to address an issue where the old stock bridge wouldn't let me lower it. I also hated how the strings could move around on the old one so I thought this was a good move. It turns out it most definitely is and feels so nice to play now.

Next time, I'll get a better camera to take a photo and not rush it either.

Double post, nor is it a guitar but I think it had to go somewhere. Kawai MP4, stage keyboard. This, plus three pedals (one I've tucked away for use with guitar/bass), stand and a flight case for $1000. Needless to say I'm pretty happy... and single. Think it shows that I'm single more than happy but whatever, sounds awesome.

I tried something today and my ears are ringing from it. I have an MXR 10 band eq KFK which has two outputs to "torture" two amps in it's product description. So I ran my HT-5 and Vypyr 60 through it for the first time and bugger me it sounded awesome! I got the HT-5 running through a 212 cab and the Vypyr has one 12 in speaker. I set the Vypyr to add some bottom end and adjusting it's volume was having an interesting affect on the tone. I didn't record it though so no evidence of how much I annoyed the neighbours. Stupid, stupid fun!

I've considered getting something to do the same thing. My son's Fender Mustang is really ballsy and my Vypyr is much brighter so I figured it'd be good to combine the two of them and see how it sounds.

I ran my Vypyr in dual rec, scooped, which is a setting I use to get a Metallica Master of Puppets type tone. It added really well to the HT-5. I didn't have to run it very loud but it add some balls to the tone.

i sold a guitar yesterday, and went straight out and bought one. It's a Chapman ML-2 in Black Cherry

then once i took it outside the sun lit up the grain like crazy.

The grain and finish on that look fantastic.

How does it sound? A bit brighter than a Les Paul?

it's probably more like a PRS than an LP. Maybe because it's made in the same factory as the PRS SE's and has the same scale length and same woods.

I haven't bought anything of late, not even strings!, but I just can't decide on what else I'd like. What I want I can't afford anyway.

I love my Epiphone Les Paul Tribute + and getting another would be easy but I'm drawn to the Gibson version so much. Maybe in time, maybe...

I love 5-strings. Not heard of a Sandberg though. Might have to edumicate myself....
