Thats pretty much in line with the Optus deal I have. Telstra is the odd one out as its still costs 70+

Telstra is dumb.... all they have is coverage.. if their iphone deals were at least competitive with 3, i would have stayed. A lot of friends of mine are on 3, so i should get a lot of calls.

hmmmm my blue tooth doesnt seem to be operating correctly on the iphone, ive done full software restores and shit, and still a no go. The BT icon is just grayed out, occasionally it will pop up on my old blackjack, but trying to send any files to it just fails, if i use the iphone to search devices, it just sits their spinning. my ibook cant see it either... theres info here

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559

but ive tryed the first two steps so far and no luck.. the next step is a full restore from itunes.. but then looking at that article it doesnt list the 3Gs as an effected device. any ideas?

i'm not sure about the newer iphones but i think the ones before wouldn't do bluetooth file transfer, it was just for connecting to devices like hands free i think.

They'd probably sell their own bluetooth adapter and charge twice as much

Theres probably apps to do it, but i doubt legit ones in the app store, you'd need to jailbreak. I'm just guessing tho :) Its like apple not including a front camera in the 3GS, you just know they're holding the back for a future update.

Its a software thing and they'll probably stick it in OS4.0 and charge $10 to update.

Can you tell I hate apple? But still love the iphone :)

Anyone know how the carriers work out the data? I aparently have 250mb +500 extra... It's now saying on my3 site that my usage is 215 and 401... Now I know I havnt used that much. I've only had it two days and 90% of the time I've been at Uni or home where it uses the wifi. The apps i've Downloaded have all been at home using my wireless net. Surely they can't charge me for using my own wifi?

I'd be getting that checked out, give em a call mate. Carriers charge on both data downloaded and uploaded from only 2/3G. They're only interested in the data that is hitting a cell tower, not your wifi.

Hmmm gave them a call and they spouted some shit about prorater etc it seems like because I joined a week into the month I get some kind of reduced data allowence. Which makes little sense to me. I'm Gunna keep my eye on it.

Grab iiQuota from the App Store. Free version lets you configure one ISP/Phone carrier where as the paid version ($2.49 from memory) lets you config 30 of em. I use it for my Optus accounts & ISP.

I'm guessing the numbers look funky because of the magical prorater thing. As it works well for everyone else i know that uses it :)

Thinking i'll format my machine in the next week or so.

Do I need to backup iTunes?
Or will the iPhone re-sync with the new install and copy my apps and music back to my PC?

Anything special I need to do?
