V poor, proper on the back foot for the decider... not happy
As far as the hotel incident goes... I bet half of them were still out on the raz with Freddie when the alarms went off anyway ... It's happened before and it'll happen again and I don't think it made a huge amount of difference to our peformance. In the first innings the batsmen played it all wrong, you don't go out blazing when 1) The ball is moving around and being bowled in the right place. 2) You are 1 - 0 up in an Ashes series with 2 to play and can spend as long as you like at the crease mounting up a good score and heading for a draw. The other end of the team were just as bad. I expected better from Jimmy Anderson and couldn't see the point of putting Harmison back in the side. He's been whingeing about retiring for ages since he couldn't get a call up to the side, now's the time for him to retire.

Pretty damn poor effort from England really. I expected more of them especially after the dominance of the first and second tests. Not really very happy to be honest.

ummm didnt England hold out for a draw in the first test? I believe we only batted once. I wouldnt call that dominance.Nigel wrote:Pretty damn poor effort from England really. I expected more of them especially after the dominance of the first and second tests. Not really very happy to be honest.

Remember who you are talking to Stud. If England take a wicket, Nige gets all excited. 2 in a session is dominance to Nige.
Will be interesting to see who the Aussies select in the next test. Will S Clark keep his place? Siddle and Johnson grabbed some wickets, so I reckon they are safe.

Re: Ashes 2009.
yep, i think poor stuart clark will get the chop. His bad 3-4 overs i think will be enough reason for them to drop him and put Horry in. The end of the telecast they mentioned Lee, apparently he is fit and ready to go... but who could they drop to bring him in??? Id rather have him in the side than Mitchell Johnson tbh, but then, when Johnson is in form he can be a great bowler... and maybe after this last test, hes coming into some form... handy with the bat too.

Im thinking they will save Lee for the ODI's, drop Clark and put Horry in if it looks like it might turn. But Id like to see the team stay as is.

Re: Ashes 2009.
Ponting, have you had a lobotomy? Johnson is leaking 5.5 per over and you take Clark off who is going for 1.2 an over! FFS, tie up and end and attack the other end.
Lucky he can bat, because he is a fucked captain!

Re: Ashes 2009.
I think the Aussie selectors, no doubt this will be Pontings fault also, have err'd not including a proper spinner...I have a feeling we maybe chasing a few...pitch looks like a road...
I disagree Norbs - Clark didnt look like taking a wicket...Johnsonm looked like he could get Bell any ball...

He looked like getting him for an over, then, nothing.Hazelb wrote:I think the Aussie selectors, no doubt this will be Pontings fault also, have err'd not including a proper spinner...I have a feeling we maybe chasing a few...pitch looks like a road...

Ah well, it is win win for me. If we win or draw, I'll be happy that they some how retained the Ashes. If England win, I picked the result. LOL

108 for 1 at lunch... looking good after a ropey start although Bell is looking a bit uncomfortable
I hope the torrential rain that just came over us isn't headed south

Re: Ashes 2009.
307 for 8 at the close, not good enough on a good batting wicket with fast outfield. Methinks you can keep hold of the urn

Dexter, I hate the ABC for a number of reasons, this being one of them (the Chasers being the bulk of the rest) but try grabbing the BBC one, horrible commentary but better than nothing and dead easy to use I found.DexterPunk wrote:so apparently theres no ABC stream

That was quick!
Just got an SMS from a mate who is there, and he reckons it is all over. Good old Pommy confidence.

Re: Ashes 2009.
Looks like it is tough to bat on that pitch. Watson has got a couple of close calls that Rudi would have probably given.
I get the feeling that unless England make inroads, their heads will drop and the Aussies will get away.
Warne might be a tool, but he has a hell of a cricketing brain.
Wow! Watson just got another life. PLUM!

Re: Ashes 2009.
5/108. Jesus, the Ashes could be slipping out of the hands of the Aussies. North got a dud decision, but that seems to even out some earlier lucky ones for Watson.
Warne and Holding have virtually accused England of doctoring the pitch.

Re: Ashes 2009.
Why would England enforce the follow on? It was just mentioned on the live streaming feed. Surely bat again and get as many as they can. The pitch is only going to get worse. They could lead by over 200 on the 1st innings.Johnny X wrote:109 for 6 now... what would it have been if Watson had gone when he should have...
