Colin McRae: Dirt2

Downloaded the demo off the PSN to see what it was like and to my surprise I like it! It's no sim or anything but it's no easy arcade racer. The graphics look fantastic, driving through the water and your whipers turn on so you can see through the windsheild again (If you still have one) The damage is just crazy! Give it a download on XBLA or PSN, I think it's about 900MB.

Doing the trailblazing in Murocco, best time so far is a 3:09 :)

I had a look at this today too. The graphics are very tasty, I like the Baja stuff more than the trail blazing. If only they could get the handling a little better, I would probably pick it up.

Baja was fun and yeh, its a bloody good looking game!

Won't buy it based off the demo though... cant see myself playing it too much...

Tried this some more last night, just can't enjoy it unfortunately. I did see something that really impressed me with the graphics though. It's the first time I have ever seen the other cars reflect off the paint on the players car in a game. I've seen the environment reflect but not all the cars as well and I think the water effects are probably the best I have seen too. The whole thing really is very slick, loading tracks etc is done really well, it's very seamless. It's just a shame it handles like poo.

What? I prefer Trailblazing too Baja... The only thing I didn't like about it was there was no call notes. But once you learn the track and try to improve your time I couldn't stop playing, I deleted the demo but had to re-download it just so i could play Trailblazing again :P

I love this, picked it up yesterday and have been playing ever since.
I mean yes it has that arcade feel, but it also nails the feel of speed, so even if its quite forgiving, at the speed your doing stuff as it feels rewarding.
And oh my the graphics are insane on the xbox

I want this, but i'm not allowed to spend money at the moment due to purchasing a house. So I bought Dirt 1 for the PC for $5 at JB's.. and it made me want Dirt 2 more.... lol

Mindless rallyin' fun. love it.

Tell, me, does Dirt 2 have like open Baja, i mean where you can sorta go where you want within reason? checkpoint to checkpoint stuff? or is it confined to a single course like in Dirt 1? i would download the demo but i'm using someone else's net at the moment and they have shit DL limits.. gay.

Im pretty sure it like Dirt 1 mate.

Ive been getting a fair bit of milage from the demo so I decided to picked this up on the weekend. Ended up finding it for $79 at K-Mart compared to JB's $99 :)

Mindless rally fun indeed. Its a great thrash game, really fun altho a little too easy. Ive been running the more dificult AI and its not bad at all. Kinda funny how the drivers tell you off for punting them or being rough in traffic. Then only lame aspect ive found is how they big you up at the end of an event... Pastrana or Block will say shit like "You totally killed em in that race"

The only other gripe is there isnt enough tracks in each country.....

All in all its a great game. Its no sim but its a really fun.

Do you know what it would cost to build a car like his "gymkhana" car?

I could do the whole ARC and have money left over.

Wouldn't be that much? I mean its a highly modified wrx, but minus the cost of the car you could do it with change from 50k. I mean ruff figures to do the same sorta thing on my car would be like

Strip Interior $??
Insert Cage/Seats $Few Grand
Coilovers/Swaybars/arms $4-5k
Brake Upgrades $2-3k?
Engine full rebuild + stroker kit + all the other bits, cams ect.. 10-15k
Turbo/Exhaust/Fuel System/Computer/Coolers 5-10k
Paint + Wheels (yumm te37's) 5k

I have plenty of mates with cars that are as close to the same in terms of modifications

So it comes down to the 100k views you get on youtube... or a season of ARC with TV time :D You win

Im at just over 50% completion of this game and its been a blast, tons of fun!
Running on Serious AI is a bit of a challenge but still winnable. Ive unlocked all of the continents and LA is one of my favs so far. The special stage (tarmac and gravel is great fun)

Last night I unlocked the Ford Escort, I didn’t even know it was in the game!!!!
Great fun to drive but it behaves a bit too much like the 4x4 cars. Still fun tho :)

Anyone know if theres a way to get around using the windows for games live?
Pain in the ass, but seems you need it to save a game.

You can't get rid of it at all. But you can make an offline account and still save.

When you create a new account, scroll to the bottom of the terms and services page, and on the bottom left there it a little blue bit of text, which is a hyperlink to make an offline account.

That, as far as I know, is the only way.

Do you have a hotmail, Windows Live, Xbox 360, etc... account? If so just use that, it's all the same thing.

Found out I can create a offline profile, so thats all good.
Have to say, this is the most fun I have had in a racing game in a long time!
