Production Schedule and Stock Availability

Hi all,

One of the key things I am looking at this year is stock levels. The aim is to always have stock available at least in a viable time frame. If not on the shelf then at least in quick supply. That means that all items which have a longer production lead time will be carried and items with a quick turn around can be on a 'customer required' basis.

With most vendors trickling back to work now, I am looking at implementing this plan by February 2010 and the goal is to have all orders processed and shipped within 2 weeks of order maximum.

Thank you.

A lot has happened in the last few weeks. I've realised, even more, that I can't do it all alone. I've had meetings with people with more experience than me in larger scale production. On friday I met with a company that has a fantastic facility and they really liked my products. We are now in the process of doing costings for larger scale runs of the products which give me the most trouble. The proposed outcome is a quicker turn around for orders but also a more precise manufacturing process resulting in a better quality product. I WILL however need to recost the items once I know how much I will be charged for the sub assembly manufacturing. I am hopeful that the prices do not vary too much.

I will continue to update this thread as more information becomes available.

Sounds good Robbo, congrats to you.

Do you have a QLD retailer yet? Delete if you don't want those sort of questions here man. Sorry

CJ, this is the ideal place for all questions, warts and all. I want to be as open as possible with A1 Racing Gear and that means criticisms and Robbo bashing too.

On the question of retailers, I will want / need interstate retailers but again, I want to do this differently. I need my dealers to essentially be partners. They'll need to know how they work, provide advice, service etc. I'm not necessarily looking for a shop but someone who is passionate and enthusiastic about sim racing.

Robbo, any news on when your going to have your shop open again?

I'm hoping to have a decent tax refund this year & want to get your latest shifter & 12bit controller. I have your original shifter & GT pedals (2006 invoices) that I bought second hand. Both are working well, but well the new shifter is so much better (quieter etc) that I can't not get one.

Hey John,

I'm finalising a few of the more minor details now. I'm making my own shifter knob because our supplier has changed brands of the old one so this way we can control our own knobs ( giggle ).

Our clamps are really difficult to make so they too are changing and I'm nearly finished those.

I'm happy with the new dual spring setup which keeps the tension more consistent left to right so that is a goer also.

A little further along I'll have the sequential set up also so I'm pretty much in the home straight with the new shifters.

Keep an eye here.

Hey Robbo. My G25 fell of my desk the other day and after a long service it's KIA. I'm looking for a replacement now. Your wheel, is that a wheel mod for the logitech controller, or a standalone unit? Also, what is the pricing?

Cheers mate and hope your well.

Hey is Robbo still running everything? I have been checking the site regularly waiting for the shop section to come back up.. would be interested in the shifter.. Also I have seen some stuff about ACT Labs stuff.. Is Robbo a distributor of them or something? Or is there a distributor in Aus for them. Coz there shifter would be my second option after Robbo's.
