Re: Codemasters F1 2010
If you quit to paddock during a session it won't save any results from the session you were in so no need to kill the process to jump out (although that'd be much quicker than the bloody menu system). The access tyre, engine, wing settings whilst on the move, look up what your directional keys are mapped to (might be arrow keys?) and you press them to change the tyre. But you have to make the change whilst in the final sector before your stop otherwise it resets what you've picked. But by quitting to paddock you can come back and set your race strategy properly again anyway.

Be nice to have that in the pause menu so at least you don't risk crashing while selecting new tyres.

Well it finally happened. New season and two punctures in the first round. One in P1 and in the race about mid point.

Re: Codemasters F1 2010
Tyre bug bit me hard. Doing a race at Melb I was only just faster than the AI but blew two tyres in the race so quit, turned tyer sim off and lap the field in 23 laps. Its killed it some what now

Had a couple of blowouts at Barcelona with tyre sim off
Also, how long into the first season does it usually take before you get offers from other teams??

I think you have to be beyond halfway. I'm only at Valencia and have just started getting teams showing interest but no offers yet.

Re: Codemasters F1 2010
Just hit Silverstone and only a few showing interest so far. If i get an offer from STR or a similar mid field team ill take it as i dont want to hang out for a better offer for only my 2nd season.Exar Kun wrote:I'm only at Valencia and have just started getting teams showing interest but no offers yet.

Re: Codemasters F1 2010
Same here dude - I'm kind of looking to go to STR or Sauber for my second year. I'm doing a 5 year career and want to end up at Williams some time then hopefully a year or two at one of the top three teams.

I'm gonna restart my career tonight.
Into a Ferrari seat in my 4th year and I'm bored as hell.
Might start with HRT this time.

Re: Codemasters F1 2010
now I've been playing it a while, I think I've got an alright view of this game.
I've taken all the aids off, AI is expert, 30% distance short weekends in the virgin in a 7-year career. I'm mid field with the odd top 10, got a podium in Canada, points in melbourne and valencia. reputation is 10.5 and have interest from STR, HRT and Lotus.
The weekends have gone well, performance seems to be OK compared to the rest of the field but Petrov, Chandok and Liuzzi are weirdly competitive. I didn't get any tire blow outs til rd4 and I'm not getting many.
One thing that pisses me off is the ai cars seem to not pit sometimes, and other times the software just decides that a car that was 5sec before you at the first stop is suddenly 3 spots ahead of you after your stop. it just plays around with you when the pit stops come around and undermines all the work you've done at the start of the race.
apart from that, I like the career gig and the physics are decent despite the cars running no different in wet vs dry conditions... I rarely feel any difference in grip off line compared to on line. I thought these guys had got that with the track grip method, but it seems not. I'll still play it, but these are really annoying!

Damp (inters) weather doesn't feel particularly different to me but full wet definitely is.

Re: Codemasters F1 2010
As long as your on the right tyre when its wet you have "full" grip. You understeer madly in the wet on the wrong tyres but can still seem to get the power down easily. Although I did have a lot of fun driving around on slicks when everyone else was on full wets
I'm playing long weekend, expert, 20% race distance...
I got my best pole position in a Lotus the other night, only by 8 and a bit seconds... I guess the "random number generator" qualifying spat the dummy?
The funny thing was my dry pace was good for only 7th quickest in the dry but when it came to Q3 the track was full wet. The bit that got me though was that running on FULL WET tyres on a FULL WET track I was only 2 seconds a lap slower compared to my fastest dry (option tyre) lap - WTF? I was braking a lot later then I was in the dry too, although to be fair I was running a lot more df (which I shouldn't have been allowed to change in qual anyway).
My plan is to build up Lotus to a front running team during my 7 seasons. My race engineer after I got pole was priceless, he almost sounded angry I got pole (shouting)...
