Guys screenshots won't help much; save the page(best) or the page source(second best) Then zip it up and post it please.

It still won't necessarily identify the source but it makes it easier to find in the code (if it's there) - but it maybe added on the web server level. Or at the browser-level on client side.

just found some more info here http://www.threatexpert.com/report.aspx ... 591e392889" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

do you have a process called msa.exe?

you were right, woodsy, now that I'm thinking about it; if it's coming from client side the page source may not contain anything. (altho you've deleted your post while I was responding!) :)

yeah cos i started to doubt what i was saying :D But to me it looks like his adblock plus is completely different to mine. I was thinking maybe there's a nasty that instead of getting rid of the ads, actually feeds him ads.

Looks like i had 'Loud MO Contextual Ad aware'
Their adware has the ability to deliver interstitial ads. So the end user is browsing a site and suddenly they are shown a page to another site in the same browser window. …the page is loaded in frames, so the URL in the address box remains the same for the site that was previously being viewed by the end user. Even though the browser is titled LoudMo and there is a link to “skip” the ad …this can be confusing for some end users as to where the ad is really coming from.
http://www.amnavigator.com/blog/2010/02 ... al-adware/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It appeared as a Firefox Plugin whilst installing a video codec i believe, simply disabling it didnt quite fix the issue as you couldnt then uninstall it. Had to search thru the install.rfd files in the FF Extensions folder and remove any folder that contained any reference to LoudMo. Now its removed from the FF Extensions listing.

Hopefully thats got it.

EDIT: The fucker was bundled with FLV Direct
http://www.loudmo.com/networks/flvdirect" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Tonight it's been taking anywhere from 1 - 3 mins to open a page on ARSE and ARSE alone. That's trying in both Explorer 8 and Opera.

Yesterday and the day before around 10pm to 12pm it was the usual slowness again. Took half a minute to post, and sometimes it came back with db error.

Kev is talking with the host about it. We are doing what we can.

That's good news. Should we keep reporting tho?

Yep. Whether we can actually do anything about it is the problem.

Funnily enough I was just doing my browse and the moment I tried to load this thread I couldn't get anything to happen for about 10 mins. Not a single ARSE page would load ^ ^

So yea around this time it gets pretty sluggish.

Oddly enough, surfing from the other side of the globe most of the time ARSE runs quite good. I don't remember seeing any bad slowdowns. Could be something to do with the time of day thing.

I had an occasional mysql error message after a bad period of lag on the screen a few nights now.
The server looks rather overloaded...

Yep I think it's server side too but tech support don't seem to think there's a deficiency.

As mentioned by petey it's only happening later in the evenings. 9:30pm onwards.

Could you be getting hammered by spammers/DOS attack/search engine crawlers at that time of day? Does the provider do any throttling on a daily load or time of day basis?

guys, if you have access to run a few simple commands, you can monitor the load and memory usage, which will probably give some indication of what's happening.
Attached a small simple script I wrote for this purpose a while ago.
It creates a monthly log file with the aforementioned values.

It needs write privileges in the directory where it is, and apache must be able to run that crucial couple of commands. But this you can test manually, just by running the script.
Then if it runs ok, writes the log, put it into a cron job and run every minute. Bit of help in the header

After a few weeks you can get back to the provider with the finds. (it does not monitor the db server though - so if the problems are strictly there, you need something else)

Kev looked into it a few weeks back and said there's an Indian mp3 site running on the same server and it loads it up to the point where we slow down.

The site is still VERY slow on my end. It can be + 4 or 5 seconds before the banner loads, then the rest slowly loads in. Not having any issues with other site bar ZGeek.com, which is about the same.

Apologies for the massive thread bump but has anyone found the forum really slow in the last week or two?
