Yep, finishing touches to go on tonight, and then we deliver it into the city tomorrow morning (going to be bloody nervous driving the 30 minutes into the city with this thing in the back, one false move and it'll revert back to just a pile of bricks).

It will be on display this Saturday night for promotional purposes, then will be at the Lego display the week later. The project is sort of a commission (no way we could afford the cost of this), so I can't post pics until it's launched, depending on how much publicity it gets this weekend I'll either post pics here early next week, or during the Lego show over Easter.

We also had a film crew from a Channel 10 kids show spend 3 hours in our lounge room last Friday filming a story on it that should air in around 2 months from now.

Really looking forward to seeing it Pete!

I'm slowly working my way through the Falcon. Very enjoyable build. Image

Looking good, you've probably been asked this before but what do the kids think about Daddy playing with his toys? :D

Can't wait to see some pics, and the news story, Pab. Very cool.

Exar, do you have plans to display it somehow? That's going to be awesome.

Pretty stressful day yesterday, carried it out of the house without too many issues, but took some fairly significant damage on the trip into town (despite driving slowly and carefully, you'd be amazed how rough the ride is lying on the floor in the back of a delivery van is, compared to sitting in a comfortable seat)! Connor and I then spent the next 8 hours doing a bit of repair/rebuild work. Almost done now, another hour or so of work needed tomorrow morning for the public launch of it tomorrow night.

Must have taken quite a battering. Good to know it's repairable though.

Trying to get shots they could use to tease without giving away his whole build :)

Anymore pics Pete?

Dex - yeah, I've built a stand from instructions available on the net. Means it only needs a space about 30cm deep to mount it.

Most progress has been on the underside of late. So a bit hard to capture without one person to hold onto it and the other taking pics.

My 7 year old loves Lego but not star wars so whilst he's broadly interested in the largest Lego set of all time being built in the house, he's not too bothered about helping out. Loves telling people about it though! Image

So hard to do it justice through a camera lens. Plenty of other epic builds there as well, will try to post some other shots after tomorrow.

Fantastic! Plenty of bricklink orders there, no doubt!

How's the backlit theatre sign done?

He put a couple of these inside some trans clear panels and then put computer cut vinyl over the top. Simple but effective!

And finally done. Excellent build. Asymmetric ship so actually not too repetitive despite the size. ImageImage
