Re: I haz HTC Desire !
I thought there was rumor that the Desire wasn't getting Froyo (xda-developers.com).
I've played around with Android more than a few times, but it just doesn't come close to WinMo and my HD2 in my opinion.

Re: I haz HTC Desire !
Google said all current 2.1 phones will get Froyo... if they dont there will be a froyo rom somewhere to flash with.
We've got a HD2 at work and Im just not that impressed.. the screns awesome.. but.. Ive had 3 WinMo phones and they just havent progressed than much.. WinMo7 will change all that but at the moment Android is the best platform.. IMHO

Re: I haz HTC Desire !
I've got the HTC Hero, terrific phone, just right for my requirements
After a recent issue with optarse I will probably move to the big T & get a Desire, the missus can then have the Hero.

You don't live in a regional area.

I do, and agree with Nutty. Telstra and business options fit really well together.norbs wrote:nutty wrote:Hmm good deal, after being with Telstra for work no way in hell I could go to another provider..

They can't pay me enough to enter a contract with the big T again. Never ever. I rather go without phone.
The worst fucking company the earth has ever had to carry on his back. Die, Telstra, Die!

I did notice that Optus coverage in SA was horrid compared to NSW and Victoria. That said, I still maintain that the coverage we get down here is better on Optus than Telstra 3G. NextG is slowly getting better though. And I think Optus is slowly getting worse. By the time this contract is up, I may even think about using NextG. I just hope their packages are more competitive.

Re: I haz HTC Desire !
While coverage pays a good part (I do a lot of traveling, espeically to regional areas tho mostly near the airports)
But the other things are, with optus I would get heaps of busy tones/call drop outs and terrable 3g speed.. telstra I never seem to get any of that.

You must be in a bad spot norbs... My folks live up north between big towns and EVRYONE up their swears by Telstra.. they caravan a lot with friends all over the country and have loads of tales where their Telstra Next G phone works great but optus & voda dont..norbs wrote:You don't live in a regional area.
Maybe thats it.. NextG network v Telstra 3G.. Iphone doesnt do NextG.. just 3G
In my experience the Telstra nextG network is the best by a country(or city) mile
[EDIT] - Hmm maybe thats wrong.. maybe iPhone DOES run on NextG.. by bad!

Re: I haz HTC Desire !
In tassie telstra NextG is the only way to go for coverage.
I was also told that iPhone is designed to run better on telstra NextG as apposed to say vodafone 3G. Different bands apparently ?

I am basing it mainly on my travels actually. I have a Blue Tick Next G phone for work, and over the last 2 years there has only been one time it has had coverage when the Optus phone didnt, and that was at Wentworth, at the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers. There has been numerous times when the Optus phone has had coverage and the Next G didn't. Even travelling with the bride this year, there were a few times she didn't have coverage and I did, and that is with the shitty iPhone.
I have heard from an Telstra radio engineer that their network is way more reliable than any other network, and I respect his opinion. He, like me, works for them, but doesn't advocate for them.
I expect next time my contract is up I could be on the HTC/Next G bandwagon though.

how is flash on the Android phones? I've heard mixed reports. Also does it play wmv files, i ask mainly because i have an uncle that always emails me funny videos and i can't view them on the iphone. They are my 2 main issues with the iphone.
