Nowadays there's heaps and heaps of similar enclosures around.

Yeah, I'd be happy to hear how yours fare, Norbs!

Will keep you posted. So far so good with the hard drive doodad. The modem is giving me some grief. Keeps dropping out. Will need to look into it.

Try forcing the modem into a slower speed (e.g. ADSL 1) and if it still has problems, take it back.

Oh, and you may also ask your ISP to put you on a safer speed.
I know that internode has that sort of facility - I had myself put on the fastest, and I had dropouts, so I had it turned back to normal and everything is dandy, no dropouts whatsoever.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Yup. I changed a setting last night VVC or VLC or some shite and it seems solid as a rock now.

Thanks again gents.

If you are looking at one of these 2 Bay NAS devices quite a few of them have little communities with hacks like custom firmwares or ways to install linux on them making them quite powerful. I was thinking about a D-Link DNS 323 for this reason http://wiki.dns323.info/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In the end all I really wanted was something to leave on 24/7 seeding torrents so got one of these and a 500GB usb drive for about $150 in total.

Installed a custom firmware and it's doing well so far :yes:
