Wireless modem

Post by SE1Z »

Hi gang!

Need to buy my girls Nan a new wireless modem for use with TPG.

Can anyone recommend something under $200?
Preferably around $150

It needs to have decent wireless coverage as their home is quite large.
Even if I can use an 'after market' antenna on it (I have one lying around), that will be fine - if it means the initial cost will be lower.

Thanks!

I vote for Billion 7800N - it has ADSL2+ modem, gigabit ethernet x4 and Wireless N for the wifi side of things, with not 1, not 2, but 3 antennas!

About $180 ish from MSY etc.

Of course you could go for something cheaper such as a 7300N or a 5200N, not sure what the differences are though.

Netcomm modems have always served me well (if that helps).

I was going to get the Billion 5200N as it's essentially the same as the 7300N, just less configurable... but as it's for a grand mother, that would have been ok.
But... I couldn't find one anywhere...

Ended up grabbing a Netgear DGN2000 for $110
4 ethernet ports, wireless N.... Should do the job :)
