De Vries has gone back to Formula E.

I bet that's a good listen from Webber. I'll have a look tonight.

The US-based Andretti team's bid to enter Formula 1 with General Motors' Cadillac brand has been approved by motorsport's governing body, the FIA.

Andretti Formula Racing were the only team approved by the FIA out of four candidates who made it to the second phase of the new teams process.

All others were deemed not to have met the required criteria.

Andretti-Cadillac's bid will now be assessed by rights holders Formula 1 on a commercial basis.

The final four were Andretti, a partnership between New Zealand's Ronin Cars and the Carlin racing organisation, junior category race team Hitech, and an Asian partnership known as Lucky Suns.

Two other candidates - Formula Eagle, led by former BAR team boss Craig Pollock, and Pantera Team Asia - were ruled out at an earlier stage.
It's a shame F4, F3 and F2 regulars Carlin were turned down. They had committed to having a female driver in one of their cars. Would have been interesting to see how they got on given their success in lower formulae.

Will be interesting to see if F1 now screw him over.

In theory they were up against Bridgestone. Looks likely this will be Pirelli's last stint, however, and they'll bow out at the end of 2027.

I think it should go to one of those ultra-cheap Chinese ditchfinder brands next. That'd make it interesting.

Is the current driver line up changing at all? Or is everyone staying put now?

Apparently they didn't realise it was going to be so cold at this time of year in Vegas. Also they're racing at midnight local time. It's likely to be 5-10C during the race. As a result the teams have been given an extra set of softs cos they're unlikely to run the hard tyre as they won't be able to get it up to temperature.

Vegas has loads of those places dotted around so I wonder if it's somewhere that already does it that they've built the circuit around.

Somebody I used to work with was married by Elvis in Vegas. They went back recently to renew their vows, also by Elvis (possibly a different Elvis).

General Motors has announced it has registered with the FIA to be an F1 power unit manufacturer from 2028 onwards.

Andretti Cadillac would be powered by a GM power unit should their F1 entry be successful
