X1 Challenge

So freakin' hard I think it deserves its own thread...

Anyone up to the x1 challenge(s) yet? Any tips? 8 seconds off bronze on the first (apparently EASY) challenge... This is going to take some effort! Or change my driving style...

I always thought this would drive like ridge racer or wipeout; but the car feels faster! Everything is a reflex action - act first think later...

Level 30. Just managed to bronze all the challenges and I'm now level 32 - you get a **** load of experience from the challenges!

Just watched the Monza one on Youtube... Wow :eyepop: It's like playing wipeout! Would it be easier with the game pad?

Woo now I've got three X1s :)

Theres one big driver aid which makes this challenge pretty easy; skid recovery! Just gives the car that extra grip.

Wow, just bronzed the Nurburgring challenge and that alone paid out 463,640 xp points. Not far off Lv31 now :)

Your not wrong when you said this is "So freakin' hard" Reppo.
I finished lap 1 at Nurby and i think my brain was still back in the pits. Sooooooo dam fast. Took me a while to realise how late you can brake and how much speed you can carry thru the slower hairpins.

EDIT:
Well the first half of Suzuka is impressive! Adrian Newey is a mad man for conceiving this car.
I silvered Monza in my first finishing attempt and boy what a pay out, 1,112,740 xp!

W :fall: W

Obtained the X2010 then threw it around the Nordschleife in 4:06,932!
Had 1 silly mistake so the lap didnt count. Will have to try again... shucks :)

OMG WHAT A RUSH!

Just lapped the Nordschelife in 3:52,578 :fall:
At times I dont know how my brain kept up. The tightest parts of the Hatzenbach complex is pretty much flat in 4th and is psycho fast along with the last few kms of twisties. So much of the track can be taken at speeds that you cant fathom untill you give it a go and make it thru to corner/complex exit and crack up laughing.

The problem is i know there is more time to be found lol. But completing one lap without incident at this pace is plain crazy.

That sounds pretty effin' crazy Knappo.

Prop your boy up in front of the screen so he can get used to the speed. :D

Hopefully this works. Here is the replay file from the lap.

http://rapidshare.com/files/439747145/N ... 52-578.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

EDIT: LMAO this thing has so much grip (even when you reduce the wings to their lowest settings) that you can run full laps of the Indy 500 pit lane turns at 450kph without lifting!

Suzuka you need to carry a shit lot of speed thru the flowing sweepers at the begining of the lap. Think i did them in 4th and only had the slightest of lifts on the throttle when changing directions, just to ensure no understeer developed as the sss tightened.

Nurby you need to be fast thru the first set of hairpins, there is oodles of grip.
The hairpin at the back of the track can be taken really really fast so dont be afraid to go in really deep. Same as turns 5-6, turn 5 can be taken quite fast!

For both tracks the really tricky part for me was the slow chicanes at the end of the lap. Nurby wasnt as tricky as Suzuka simply because at Suzuka the entry speed feels like its twice as fast and the chicane is harder to spot.

I golded the last of these today.

Damn, Suzuka was hard but these were worth the price of the game I reckon. A serious challenge. :)
