Son of a bitch. I was just thinking I should spend less on games. I shall avoid steam like the plague.

Nothing of interest for me so far, but I'll probably grab State of Decay once it is on a daily deal.

Might as well wait for State of Decay to come up cheap, but if it doesn't it's well worth the $20 ($14 now) in any case at the normal price, I was playing that a fair amount until AC4 came along.

As I posted in the sleeping dogs thread. It's $5 right now (if anyone is up late because it will end in a few hours). A bloody bargain I reckon. If you haven't played it, well worth the $5!

This could be an expensive week, trying hard to not pick up Dishonored and Bioshock infinite just to see what they look like again on my GTX 770.

Purchased :)

Did you know that you can buy steam credit from EB? AU$50 goes into the steam wallet at US$50... so there's another 8% saving or so too.

Maybe they changed it. I just asked them and the printed out a receipt with a code on it. That was about 4 months ago though.

Do not forget about GoG, + Amazon Sales, first comment and some are cheaper then both.

Eg.

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
BORDERLANDS 2 $7.49
BORDERLANDS GOTY Pack $14.99, if gotten separately. So if you do not have both, great price. $12.21 USD just for the DLC on steam which is in the GOTY pack.
by 2K Games
Platform: Windows Vista / 7 / XP | DRM: Steam
4.1 out of 5 stars See all reviews (7 customer reviews)
List Price: $69.98
Price: $11.99
You Save: $57.99 (83%)

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Dishonored GOTY [Online Game Code]
by Bethesda See the Amazon Page for this brand
Rated: Mature | DRM: Steam
3.7 out of 5 stars See all reviews (3 customer reviews)
List Price: $39.99
Price: $13.60
You Save: $26.39 (66%)

Cheaper then Steam if you want the DLC as well, $11.24+$25.08

For digital Stuff locked to US, gift card your self by e-mail and redeem it, us a US Address in Oregon/Delaware(No State Sales tax-cheaper), I like the Apple stores, get your code or start downloading. Or if a real product, services like http://www.shipito.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; work as well and just use that address to get around Geo-locking.

It's on again, Assetto Corsa is down to $30 at 25% off, those that bought Bioshock Infinite last month will be pissed, you can pick that up for $19.00.

I've bought "Monaco" - sounds like fun and it's dirt cheap.

How does bioshock compare to the previous incarnation (bioshock 2 I think)? I've had that one and I was fairly disappointed... it was pretty flat for me.

Edit: by the way it's still $20, and that's expensive compared to some deals. Enhanced steam tells me:
Lowest Price: $9.99 at Amazon (Activates on Steam) (Info)
Historical Low: $8.47 at Nuuvem on Fri Dec 06 2013 (Info)
yeah, what do you know, it's $9.99 in the US store... fuck these price gouging pricks. I'm not buying.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Not steam, the game producers themselves. Steam does not enforce this, they just allow it.

Sometimes you can actually circumvent it by buying the game key on amazon using a US address. It has worked a number of times before...;)

Ahh ok, well fuck em I'm not buying either, if its only US$10 to those in the US, then it should be that price Steam wide, they do nothing extra for the extra money when purchased through Steam.

It also has to do with the Avg wage rates, here being higher then the US, so we can afford it speech.

They appear to have lower income tax, but I'm not sure how it compares once our tax free threshold is taken into account. And don't forget that US prices are without sales tax (varies by state but most seem to be around 6%) where Aus prices include GST.

At the end of the day things are sold for as much as the market will bare, not what they're worth or cost to make. We get charged more because we will pay more.

Given how many UK based stores are set up to sell to Australians you'd think they would adjust.
