Awwww damn I missed it, when I saw the title I figured Sambo had gone and done what he suggested to me last night while taking a look round the map.

Yes Gordon Ramsey had nothing on the swearing that came from my keyboard!! lol.

In a nutshell... I tried installing some map viewer thingys for single player and corrupted my game. So I deleted the .minecraft folder, reinstalled and couldn't log in as it was telling me I had to purchase the game. Now since I had already done that I was a little annoyed (*cough* raging!!) and ranted about it. Eventually when checking my confirmation email I realised my Log in name was different to what I had entered into minecraft and hence why it didn't work.
