The Ashes

Post by Big Kev »

Or should I call it, as one newspaper headlined it today, The Vaughan Supremacy

So what do you think then? Kick off is in about 20 minutes time, dunno the toss yet, weather is looking good for a full 5 days play.

This is easily the best England team we've had since the mid-80's and I think it'll be a very close series.

Australia will make a huge total in the first innings. England will bat the last hour on Day 2, and lose 3 wickets, Warney to clean them up on Day 3. England follow on and do a repeat performance. Game over on Day 4.

Thats a nasty tickle you have there Kev. I suggest a look at the past, oh, I dont know, 8 ashes series for an elixir. :p

Oh, and let me just say, its good to see Kevin Pietersen in the English side. Funny accent for a pom.

We've always had South Africans in our team :D
66-4 isn't looking too bad for us though :tilt:

I still don't rate England much, saw a fair bit of their series against South Africa and it was like going back 20 years, boring, conservative cricket.
Having said that though they have started well, see what happens.

South Africans, Zimbaweans, New Zealanders, Aussies, jesus, anyone who lives close to the colonies is fair game.

4/81. This will be a good test for Clarke and Katich. If the poms play positive cricket, it could be a good series. If they play like they did under Saddam, god help them.

The poms might do well for the first few days. The media will get hold of it & the English will actually think they have a chance of winning the Ashes. Pubs will order more beer & condom manufactures will put on extra production shifts.

The players will start believing what they are reading, Peterson & Collingwood will shoot their mouths off again (like the 1 day series :D ), then they will get the biggest, mightiest shellacking by the Aussies. We will celebrate & the ashes will stay in England again because.. err, "They are too fragile to put on an aeroplane"

Ok maybe i was thinking we were playing on a flat batsman paradise that is Australia.

Oh well... England have always struggled against Warne and McGrath... I'll cling to that hope now.

Still i think we should have made 3 changes to the team.
Clarke OUT Symonds IN - Clarke's horribly out of form, Symonds is in top form and offers Ponting spin and pace as well.
Katich OUT Hussey IN - Hussey's in form, brilliant fielder as well. Katich is average fielding and hasn't played much cricket so far this tour.
Gillespie OUT Kasper IN - Dizzy's just bowling terrible.

Well Katich is showing you can stick around. Nice little cameo by the fuckwit. 1.5 sessions in and the Poms are on top. For how long?
