What did you do besides shitting on the bosses desk?
I'm going to see if I can do AOD as well but that depends on the cost. May as well get the training cheap if I can.

Re: anyone ever lost the plot?
Just a quick update. Had the fair work hearing today. Fair work commission stated that they didn't follow procedure and had no evidence other than anecdotal evidence which I was not allowed to respond to. They awarded me 4 weeks leave taxed at a lesser rate and they have to provide me with a positive reference based on my performance.
Got a couple of jobs on the cook too which is good, just need to wait it out. It was good to feel validated that the allegations (whatever the fuck they were, still no idea) we unfounded and I was unfairly dismissed.

Shit, I wish I had thought of that when the creative team at Clipsal was given the ARSE...

Re: anyone ever lost the plot?
Update time: Got offered a job as a Service Delivery Manager for the Gladstone regions Child Protection residentials and Disability service programs. Big step up in pay and responsibility so quietly shitting myself. Feels good to have security again. Get to spend a week in Bundaberg for the induction process and business development training, so looking forward to that
From what I've heard it's all gone to shit since I left as the company tries to sweep their big fuckup under the carpet. People are coping all sorts of written warnings and performance management stuff over it all. It jsut sounds all kinds of fucked up. Best of luck to em I guess! This new job is a crew of about 800+ so there's a lot more solid and stable policies in place. Phew!

Re: anyone ever lost the plot?
I'm going ok these days. Got good medication finally that seems to work well. I've been pretty bummed out after hearing about Warren, shed a couple of tears after hearing about it. I think it hit a bit harder because he got to the point where he thought that was the only solution to his problems, and I've felt like that a few times. If it was a car accident you could justify it a bit more, but the poor bugger must have been suffering to do something as drastic as that.

That's good to hear Woodsy.
There is always a better option. There are always people who care about you. And there is always someone who can look at your problems with fresh eyes and a fresh perspective and rationalise the ones that really don't matter in the big scheme of things. Removing those is a big part of getting your head together.
I've got one particular friend who helped me several years ago. She's very 'matter of fact'. What's the point in worrying about X cos you can't do anything about it so forget that. Concentrate on the things you can change. Those chats helped me a lot.

Im also glad to hear you're getting benefit out of the meds w00dsy
COVID-19 isolation hasnt affected me too badly. Im generally introverted so time alone is how i recharge my batteries. No temporary layoff for me or anything like - in fact i've had more work than i can cope with due to trying to get our organization all setup on VPN and getting kit out the door and into their hands to they can remotely connect and work.
This whole experience has changed my mindset on how to think and how to take each day one at a time.
It's such a simple concept, but man its hard to do unless you're actually mindful of it. I admit that I struggle with this but not as much anymore. Therapy and some serious self reflection have really helped in this regard. Growing up we never talked about emotions so I never really learned how to do it, or do it enough. I'm working hard to change that and I've realized how important it is!Big Kev wrote:What's the point in worrying about X cos you can't do anything about it so forget that. Nice to hear you are going ok Woodsy.
Where I live there has been so many men take their lives in the past ten years. We need to kick down the stigma of mental health in this country and men should be able to reach out to get help without feeling shame about doing so. Physical pain is something most people can sympathise with but mental health still feels like a no go zone, yet both are a physical condition in my view. We are complex and dynamic machines that interact with the world around us. We are a part of the planet and all it's cycles. Lock down is hurting so many yet the dollar is first above all else. Mental health care should be right up there with COVID testing, if not more important.
To be self indulgent, I am so glad that I did my Cert IV in Mental Health care when I did. I have been putting to use the recommendations for improving mental health, such as exercise, meditation, mindfulness, gratitude, socialising (when I can), keeping a journal and promoting self love. It seems like sensitive new age guy stuff but it does work. Now I got a new, gorgeous woman in my life, going to sit my motorbike learners on Monday. That might scream mid life crisis but fuck it, time to do some living!

Nothing new Stan. I had to let go most of the production crew during these tough times.StanDaam wrote:Got any vids of that Doc?Dr. Pain wrote: promoting self love Now I got a new, gorgeous woman in my life
