Just upgraded to a Huawei X5 (Android 2.2) for $299 from Crazy Johns (outright & unlocked). Have to say that it's a big improvement in speed over my old overclocked HTC Magic running a custom 2.2 rom, although I do miss the track ball and call/hangup buttons.
It's still early days yet but if anyone is thinking of getting one and has any questions, just let me know.

Re: Huawei X5, Android Phone
Would be great to see a rom running 2.3.3, but I can live with 2.2.1. Unlike my Magic that was stuck running at 1.5, custom roms won't be a requirement.nutty wrote:Workmate picked one up.. great phone for the value.. hopefully you start to see some custom roms for it

Angry birds plays smoothly and the phone benchmarks faster than a Nexus One in Quadrant Standard. Haven't had it long enough to really test out battery life, so will keep you posted on that.richo wrote:Very interested to know what the battery life is and how well games play.
