I gave up doing them on the road. Too many distractions.

No trainer, might try borrow or use one of the 6amers who have one otherwise I'm going to do it on a velo down the road.
On that fact, a smart trainer is next on the shopping list so I might be calling you soon to pick your brains.

Borrow a kickr or Neo. So much easier than outside.
3 times I tried outside. 2 x flat. 1 x motorist flagged me down for car fire (was oil leaking onto manifold). Fuck that

Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
this arrived today
hopefully i'll get to try it out tomorrow. I say "hopefully" because i headed out to get an SD card for it earlier in the evening. Only once i returned did i look at the compatibility list where it said specifically not to use a SanDisk Ultra microSD card... guess what i bought..

Nice & I'll be interested to see what you think Carl.
One of the 6amers said he thinks they have over complicated this one & that isn't as user friendly. Also his has been a but funky at times, switching off with no warning or reason.

First day of using it and the impression is mixed.Duke wrote:Nice & I'll be interested to see what you think Carl.

1) Video quality compared to my original kickstarter version is outstanding.
2) The buttons are more difficult to press and less positive in their feel.
3) For some reason attaching the Fly6 to my Win10 machine causes it to repeatedly connect and disconnect
4) after using the android app to change some settings it appeared to forget those settings :/
5) setting it up to talk to my garmin was pretty easy, though the garmin lighting interface seemed a bit clunky IMHO; apparently there's also a Connect iQ app that i can use, but i can't find it :/
Point 2 is probably the biggest issue for me in the long term. I suspect that I'll set it up to operate much like my old one. manually turning it on at the start of a ride etc However it might take some practise to be able to do so while moving and not looking at the device with the buttons being flush with the housing, particularly in winter with full gloves.

Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
One of the locals has one, I didnt even realise til i saw it on his bike.
I sent him your post Carl and he agreed with all points, but said you were being generous.
Again, on the local roads, it is pretty hopeless. We checked out his video yesterday and you could hardly read any car number plates. The image stabilising seems to give the video a weird rolling effect too. I have seen it on other cameras with IS.
The light is definitely better than the original though. Still not great, but better.

Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
I should probably have added:
6) smaller form factor is awesome, as is the new mounting system
this might not be as bigger deal for those coming from one of the newer Fly6 versions, but from the Kickstarter version, the difference is night and day.
The issue with reading number plates is probably due to the wide angle of the lens. It needs to be wide angle to capture off to the side of the bike, and yet anything on the edges of the video frame will be distorted. The higher resolution helps, but it's a difficult problem to solve. I mainly use my Fly6 on my commutes, which tend to be much slower traffic, so the chances of capturing a plate are much higher (and have done so a couple of times to make complaints )
I think they've probably made it a whole bunch more complex than they needed to, but i guess time will tell whether i can get along with it.

so i think i've worked this one out.CLP wrote: 3) For some reason attaching the Fly6 to my Win10 machine causes it to repeatedly connect and disconnect
It seems to do that when it's charging (for some reason). as soon as it's finished charging, it mounts the Fly6 as a removable drive and it stays mounted. A bit weird.

Giving these a try. Not happy to be going away from the Speedplay pedals, but for $655 it was hard to say no. Will probably sell the Powertap C1 if I like these. If not, sell them for what I paid.

Well I have always been interested in the pedal power meters. And I was withing a whisker of getting the P1s when the crypto market died in January.
The good thing is, if I dont like them, I can sell them and get my money back. And I will still have the C1s until i am sure.
These are brand new. A blog follower got them, and 2 days later won a Quarq system. LOL
The crypto circle completed itself a few weeks back when I sent him some shit coin, that has increased by 300% in that time
Thus him selling these cheap.

Will you take that out on rides Carl?
You know a CO2 is much smaller & quicker to inflate.

Lol.. nah. this is more intended to be used pre-race (primarily CX races was the original thinking)Duke wrote:Will you take that out on rides Carl?

if I was taking one with me, I'd likely go the Fumpa mini, which admittedly is slower again. Trade off being that it's smaller and lighter.
Despite carrying them with me, I've never used a CO2 inflator.
I personally can't stand the thought of using something disposable simply to inflate a tyre :P And generally I'm not time limited in my tyre inflation :P
I tried the Fumpa just before and it produced a pretty impressive jet of air. It also made my work colleague sitting next to me jump out of her seat, so it's not exactly silent
