After selling my Santa Cruz TallyBoy CC, and then saving solid for 3 months I took the plunge and upgraded to a fresh whip! I welcome you all The 2019 Santa Cruz Bronson CC X01 Build :D All I can say is that it ticks all the boxes in the right direction.

My first pair of SiDi I ordered (ages ago!) in my usual size (42). They sort of fit, but not quite. A little bit too tight and would often result in sore feet. I passed them over to Miss V who has been using them ever since.

I grabbed a size bigger and everything was fine. These shoes use the same last, so i went with that size again.
I'm not sure if i could have gone with the 42-wide fit or a potentially 42.5. That's the downside of online shopping i guess.

New saddle day for the TT rig :) Aliexpress sourced replica of a Specialized Power saddle. Cost me all of $30 or something like that :)

It's noticeably shorter than the Selle Italia saddle that I was using. This should hopefully help out with a bike fit issue i was having and perhaps keep those nasty scrutineers off my back :P

It's the Neuron CF 8. 29er with 130mm front and rear.

I was originally just looking at a new hard tail but my brother convinced me to step it up, helped by a bigger than expected tax return. Didn't want big travel for fear of mushiness but thought a CX bike might be limiting so I split the difference. The Canyon seemed like the best value and match out of all the options.

Ordered from their site and it all went smoothly. After placing the order I did an international transfer via my online banking (no fee vs 3% for the credit card). Was a 6 week wait after that until it was delivered by UPS in a nice solid box. They have an AU support office in Victoria but hopefully I don't need them.

It got me lusting after their road bikes but my current one will have to do for a while longer :)

Nice Darren,

I love my OG Spectral so would love to hear your thoughts on this one when you have put it thru it paces.

The guys in Melbourne are awesome, especially Darryl Moliere. Ive had to ring up and get a replacement top tube crash protector and a main pivot bolt and the parts have been express posted out of Melbourne and i was back up and riding in 2-3 days.

I would love a dually MTB, but apart from the fact I would hurt myself, they end up costing so much to maintain.

Yep!
Probably didn't *need* them, but i figure they will complement my Garmin Vectors by allowing me to have power on 2 bikes at a time. They should also be a little bit easier to shift between bikes (not that the Vectors were super difficult!). I'll have to get them onto Miss V's bike in the near future. She hit 1000Watts the other day on the trainer :yikes:

Also, I'm planning to sign up to an event soonish that will likely require a pit bike so i was keen to have a power meter on both :)

Not sure how qualified I am to comment since I've only ridden offroad a couple times in the last 10 years and only briefly on dual suspension, but my first outing was quite good. Severely lacking confidence and skills but the bike is very comfortable to ride and I was starting to get a feel for it towards the end.

Seems to pedal well even when not locked out, but I did occasionally feel the bike drop out from beneath me when I started to push. I'm used to standing up and pedalling hard to get up steep bits so I need to relearn. At this point I'm glad I didn't go with more travel.

The local bush near me is a bit of a pain to get around as it's very rocky in parts (slipped off the bike and scratched the bottom of the rear triangle already. Should have put protector film on it) but there's a few ok sections and a decent technical climb. I was able to get up the climb a little easier than on the hard tail despite leaving the rear bump setting on medium. Climbing on it is certainly a lot different to a hard tail with about a 150mm stem and bar ends :)

Next I need to find a more rideable trail/bike park so I can spend more time riding it than pushing it http://nswmtb.asn.au/rides

Your local might find this guys reviews more helpful since he knows what he's talking about :)

His comments on the Trance 29 vs Neuron helped me decide. He feels the Trance is geared more to high speed and descents at the expense of climbing where the Neuron was more of a general all rounder. Also considered the Trek Fuel Ex but it would have been over an already blown budget unless I went down spec.
