Starting from today, a new firmware update is available for free to all our Assioma users - no matter when you bought your power meter!
With this update, Assioma will automatically calibrate and you'll be free to just focus on your training.
Manual zero-offset is required only at first use or when moving Assioma between bikes.
i saw that on GPLama's Youtube. Outstanding level of support to add functionality like that. I do wonder how many times the conditions required for the Auto-Zero function would be met in a typical ride though?

i think i'll be updating mine in a few minutes :P

I have had my pedals for quite a few months now & only ever noticed the power drift once where it requiring a mid-ride zero offset.
Mind you it was a horrible day where it was warm'ish & dry to start then got colder & colder & wetter & wetter during the 5hrs.
So I agree it generally is not needed but good to see the manual option is still there if needed.

Welcome to the currently ongoing saga of Carl's new wheels.

with V and I booked in to do Outback Odyssey this year, I thought i would treat myself to a nice new set of wheels. :) The complicating factor being that my bike is sufficiently old that the (rear) axle standard is fairly outdated.

Found a set of heavily discounted Mavic wheels on Pushys, and then in a masterful bit of timing, a further discount code came up making them even cheaper. Wheels purchased.

Wheels arrive and I find that the necessary quick release axle adapters that I need were not in the box. I make some inquires and do a bit of online research and I find that the wheels I purchased are 2018 model wheels, where as the spec sheet on the Pushys website are 2019 model. The key difference being that the 2019 model comes with these adapters, and the 2018 model do not. They also use a different axle.

Pushys get back to me, and after a bit of back and forth they tell me that the axle adapters are being sent out. Winning. Adapters arrive. Adapters are for the 2019 model, not the 2018 model. :( By this stage I had already purchased one of the 2 sets of axle adapters i needed. So i figured that I would just try to find the remaining set elsewhere. Pushys have tried, but not quite got there.

I reach out to 2 Mavic distributers in Adelaide, and while both where keen to help, neither could supply the required adapters. The last one suggesting that I try ordering from Europe. Small catch - Mavic distributers are not allowed to export outside their country/zones. I had previously decided to not buy Mavic based on this policy, but hey, what could go wrong, right?

I finally found a place that had them, and wouldn't charge 4x their price in postage. With any luck they will arrive from the Netherlands before Outback Odyssey in May. <sigh>

here's a photo of the front wheel with a brand new Pirelli Scorpion Hardpack tyre mounted up tubeless :)

LOL @ you CLP...

Also LOL when I heard about the new DA being 12sp & w/less shifting. My bike already has all that on a Tier 2 Grouppo (SRAM Force).
And not once have I regretted the decision to move away from the Fishing Tackle Brand :p

LOL.. to be honest, not actually that stressed by it.

The wireless function on the 12speed Shimano groupsets are only on the Disc brake version, which i don't have. The longer term goal here is that i can use the old 10sp components to put on my TT bike once i collect all the necessary bits to make that happen.

I wouldn't mind picking up a secondhand 11speed etap set, but it seems most people are hanging onto those for the time being :P

Just having a dig Carl.
I still have Shimano bikes that I enjoy riding just as much. I also have a crap load of thier parts too. The cross compatibility of Shimano is class leading too & it's great stepping down old hardware to refresh an older bike.

So ive been a total fat prick for basically 3 years since I moved out to this new house and barely been riding, im like most a creature of habit and not having people to ride with turned me off it.

Turns out a friend of mine does a bunch of ebike MTBing and was upgrading his bike, it recently had the motor/battery replaced under warranty so basically new.. so I got a hold of it for a bargain

Very nice. When I was practicing for an enduro earlier in the year I was starting to wish I had an ebike. Being able to do 5-6 runs instead of 3 starts to make the extra cost look worthwhile. I often see people on them using tow straps to shuttle a mate/kid up a hill :)

Awesome :)

On Outback Odyssey there were maybe 20 people on e-bikes. I think the good thing was that in many cases, the people on-board them would never have attempted the event without them. E-bikes keep people riding.. which gets a big thumbs up from me

Agreed. It has kept a few of the older guys around here out on their MTBs, and they can keep up with the younger blokes. What shits me is the roadie elites that shit bag them for being soft. Usually young guys in black from head to toe and love quoting the fucking rules. Drives me fucking mad.

old vs new. 10 speed (6770) on the left, 11 speed (r8050) on the right. I'm actually quite impressed at how much smaller the 11 speed front derailleur is compared to the 10 speed.

A shiny new GoPro Hero 10 arrived the other day :)

Thing is, I can't say that I was overwhelmed when i pulled it out of the box. :/ Mainly from a size perspective I think as it's quite a bit larger than my old GoPro Hero 7 without the frame. They've also relocated the power button.

I should probably add that this is all likely due to the way I use my GoPro, more as a rugged stills/photo camera in my back pocket rather than a video camera attached to the bike. It'll be interesting to see if over time i can get along with it..

Gold star customer service from Mavic. /s

At the beginning of the year i picked up a set of wheels for my 29er during a sales event. Unfortunately they were listed incorrectly, which meant that to use them I needed a set of adapters to make them compatible with my bike. No problem, except the info that was available was a bit confusing, so I reached out to Mavic customer service asking which adapters I needed.

Last night I got a response. nearly 12 months. :yikes:

And even then they didn't provide any information, but asked for the serial number of my wheels :/

Grabbed a few TPU inner tubes of Aliexpress to use as spares in the saddle bag. insanely tiny!

size comparison with a regular 700c tube:

on the roadie (25mm tyre on a 25mm wide rim), typically 80 rear, 70 front (sometimes lower :P ) . Not sure i'm planning to use these for everyday use (particularly in summer) since they're not generally recommended for carbon rim brake wheels.

I have another few coming which i'll probably pop onto the CX bike spare wheels. Will be interesting to see how they go in that environment given the higher likelihood of punctures.

Possibly my new favourite saddle from Aliexpress ... :D
I think this is a copy of an older model Specialised S-Works Power, but only cost me $40.

I think I am going to have to replace the one on my trainer. It really creaks now with my fat arse on it.

Could you just get a different (non-creaky) arse? :aussie:

There's a few saddles on Aliexpress now that have the 3D printed honeycomb padding. A club-mate bought one (a Fizik knock-off) and it looked pretty decent. Something to consider as an option.

The one I bought is pretty barebones, but it seems to work well enough on my new CX bike, so i just bought 2 more :)

I guess if you are thinking of a carbon rail version, just check that your seat post is compatible...
