Depending on the soil type, re visit that same track 1-3 days after rain. Its amazing the amount of grip dirt can have when its half way dry. If its clay based tho might be best to dismiss this thought lol.norbs wrote:he took me to a killer track. It has just rained, was slippery and steep and it scared 9 shades of shit out of me.
If Norbs comes for the TDU he better bring that pruudy orange MTB, there is a shit tone of outstanding trails in rAdelaide of all flavours for him to sample.

Knappo, I am sure the grip is there. Watching other guys barrelling down the descents suggests it is. I just dont have the confidence yet. And at 52, when you come off, it takes a few days to stop feeling sore.

Ok Bike Lords ,
I have an old Iron Horse Yakuza Inniki and the front forks are rooted , how does one measure them to order a new set off the interwebs?

Looks like it depends on what year model you have there as i noted that the 2005 and 2007 models have different headsets (and thus, steerer tubes).

Yes CLP thats the bike except mine came with AMMO Spinner forks which are heavy as all buggery . Might take the forks to a bike shop and get them to suss it out .
I only use the bike for riding to shops and my local fishing spot , two busted hips ended the dirt business .

Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
based on that link, that would make it either the 2006 or 2007 model. Looks to be a 1.5" steerer tube (?) though i might be wrong! I found another link to some other specs and you might also have a 20mm thru axle. So you'll have to get a fork compatible with that. Unfortunately, 26" forks are probably a little harder to come by now days in the mainstream online shops so maybe a good option is to get the shocks serviced by the local bike shop to get them running again rather than replacing.richo wrote:Yes CLP thats the bike except mine came with AMMO Spinner forks which are heavy as all buggery . Alternatively, if you're only looking to use it for cruising to the shops etc, you might be able to replace it with a rigid fork and do away with the suspension altogether.

Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
I got lucky with my 26er and found a set being sold on Facebook a few years back. But yeah, quite hard to find new units for sale online and if you get lucky and find the right steerer tube diameter and wheel size the axle type can screw you over...CLP wrote:Unfortunately, 26" forks are probably a little harder to come by now days in the mainstream online shops .

We still <3 the Elitenorbs wrote:Just happened? What about the Elite?
the basic plan is to put Miss V onto the Elite. Hopefully that goes well.
There was talk from her of trying to save her normal tyres by putting together a trainer specific wheel with trainer tyre and swapping them over when on the trainer. I figured if you're going to swap your wheel to use the trainer, you might as well be using a wheel-off trainer. Then this Neo came up for sale.
This one is/was a second hand Gen 1 model used in a local bike shop for their bike fits etc. Picked it up for $1000 which is okay-ish i think. Not spectacularly great, but okay. Came with a cassette (though i just realised it's 11 speed) and a Tacx ANT+ antenna.
Potentially we might be looking to sell a couple of trainers in the near future. We have a bit of collection going here ..

The NEO is a great trainer. I am very happy with my Gen 1 model. Has hundreds of hours on it now.
90% of that on the Neo.

I don't think i've ever heard a bad thing about the Neo, even after all this time. It's also noticeable that you don't see many coming up for sale second hand, so those that have them seem to hold on to them. So I figured it was a reasonable opportunity to pick one up.
I'll be interested in how it compares to the Elite, which I would already rate as "excellent" as far as trainers go.

Though realistically, those additional years were probably spent trying to catch up to where the Tacx Neo was at the time! :Pnorbs wrote:The Elite has a couple of years of R&D on the Neo i expect.

That's so very cool!smithcorp wrote:Got this on Saturday. E-cargo bike to do shorter trips without having to use the car.
We have some friends that have an e-cargo bike and they absolutely love it. Seems like a huge game-changer for reducing car usage.
Enjoy! I'll look forward to hearing how you get on with it.

Funny they are doing recalls on stuff like that. 20 years ago that would have been "wear and tear".
