OK, so I had my first crack tonight :)

Only had one flash and since I don't have any stands yet I was holding it up in the air with a sheet in front of it to difuse it a bit :) Had a reflector card (a book covered in foil) in the bottom left of shot.

Have SO much to learn obviously but had a great time getting this shot. Still only half way through my book.

Tonight's attempt, straight out of the camera :) Family style shanks and mash.

Not too bad Vil. I reckon some background work would be helpful. A nice high key (nice white surface) with some natural type props, perhaps a napkin and nice knife and fork would help. The carrots and greens could use some brightening in post. For some inspiration, check out some Donna Hay books... Some fantastic food photography in those.

And this post epitomises how sad the life of a photographer is :)

I meant it in a nice way!

You know, like when you are driving somewhere and vaguely looking out the window, everyone else is admiring the view and you are trying to work out the best angles you would use if you were to come back and photograph that spot one day!

Oh yeah for sure. It changes the way you look at a lot of things. Even ad billboards I'll now take notice of and check out the photography. I don't think I'd given two shits about a Donna Hay book 5 years ago.
