It really has gone downhill and dramatically so since they ran out of source material. Old George's supposedly supplied 'outlines' must've been sketchy indeed.

You can only go so far with deaths and twist plots before it gets boring or stupid. This and Vikings started great but have been on a downward slide for a while now.

I'm over it. That episode seemed long and boring.

That was better. It is building up so better not let me down now. Some long time cast member better start getting killed off soon.

Yeah I enjoyed it more than the first 3 of this season even with it having a predictable ending.
I agree that it is still lacking compared to how unpredictable it used to be.
At least thee was one aspect that was unexpected last episode;
[SPOILER]
with the loss of another Dragon.

I thought that the end was ridiculous. With all that fire power on the wall why wouldn't Cersei just take out the dragon, Dany and her puny guard?

The rest was good. Enjoyed Varys' and Tyrion's chats.

One possible theory - she is waiting for Jamie to get back so she can kill him herself or something?

I didn't quite expect what happened in the latest episode...
[SPOILER]
Lots of death and destruction. They seem hell bent on ending it violently. But does Dani's actions make her any better than the Targaryen's before her? I don't think it does and it sets the ground for another uprising, which last time killed her dad.

Inevitable. I was glad they didn't shy away from it.

Doc, I think that's the point of how they've been structuring her path over the last few eps.

I did enjoy this episode even if there was no real surprises except for the amount of death & carnage.

At least it looks like it will have a conclusion for most major storylines.
Even if it does feel a bit rushed after so many seasons leading to this point.
But I guess it was always going to feel that way.

I guess I was hoping for something slightly different...
[SPOILER]
As in, when the bells tolled that she would have held back to show she was better. To show that she can have compassion for the people she is about to rule. That would have been very possible with how the story was going but all the death and destruction seems like they've run out of idea's or writers/directors/producers who no longer give a shit. Seems lazy and lets wow the people with the shiney CGI and a blood and guts fest.

Yeah I get it. the lead up was:
[SPOILER]
  • D. was socially (and metahphorically politically) isolated in the aftermath of the Battle of Winterfell.
  • Lost another dragon/child
  • Missandei murdered before her in cold blood
  • The previous point proved to D. that Cersei understood their mercy was their weakness
  • D's closest confidantes no longer are able to stand by her legitimacy to have the throne and are abandoning her in one way or another
  • D. determined that she could not rule them with love, only fear. I think they tried capture the scale of this problem poorly; She was sitting on Drogon, perched on the outer wall with the entirety of Kings Landing between her and the Red Keep and the city's defences largely defeated. That's a lot of people with no love for her whose survival was indicative of weakness (in her mind).
I don't think the TV series captures just how young the primary characters of this story are in the books. Their youth would go a long way to help explain things like impulsive decisions, poor military planning and egotistical petulance.

Besides, they need to fuel the rift between Jon and D. and between D and Tyrion. I imagine Arya's adventure is about constructing the view that she is the Mad King's daughter through and through.

You are right about the age Cursed. I haven't read the books so I don't know their age's so I have to go off the age of the actor. That does explain the rash decisions.
[SPOILER]
Personally I wanted D to be more like Sansa. In the way she acts and carries herself despite all the hardship she wen't through. But then Sansa would not be unique in the story.

Tis been many a moon since I read the books but from memory Daenerys was 13 when she was wed to Drogo.

Sansa was about the same, Arya was I think 11.

My only criticism is that I wanted to see Arya get more stabby-stabby action.
