Android Apps
Thought I'd start a thread now that'd I've been living in Android world for a few weeks.
All these are free:
Dolphin HD browser - Everyone says this is the best browser. I don't know because I didn't try out the default one first
Au Weather - Uses the BOM so its accurate, and you can put a nice widget on your homescreen to show you the current/max temp.
Aussie Rules Live - Same as IOS - live footy scores. Theres a few different apps but this one looks the nicest. I use Footy Star for dreamteam scores though.
iBasket - A very cool basketball game!
Google Sky Map - Thanks to Knappo for this one - tells you where all the stars n stuff are by pointing with your phone.
Winamp - Looks to be a good music player, but doesn't sound as good as Poweramp (paid - has a trial version). Hopefully they add an EQ soon. Rearranging playlist on the fly is a good thing.
Words With Friends - Hopefully no explanation needed. Best game ever! Can play vs people on IOS.

Re: Android Apps
Here's what I use:
- ToDo Task Manager Pro - THE best task manager out there I reckon! I'd be completely lost without it. Easy to use, no bullshit.
- Cube music player.
- Dolphin HD.
- Runkeeper.
- Launcher Pro - Best launcher in my opinion.
- Beautiful Widgets.
- Footy scoreboard.
- Tapatalk Forum App.
- Australia TV Time
All on my HD2 with Gingerbread 2.3.3. I really came to like Android and I doubt that I'll use any other OS for along time.
Does anyone know of a contact manager that works like the Sense contact managers? The default Android one is a bit shitty.
I found Winamp to repeat the same set of songs over and over and over. Poweramp is a great player, but unfortunately is very quiet with the EQ on on my phone.

I installed weatherzone, just for you pix It looks good but I prefer the 2x1 widget of Au Weather - I like the transparent background of it.pixelboy wrote:Firstly, some shameless self promotion...

Since your managing it, any chance of adding tide times that save into the memory (so it doesnt have to reload them every time?)

Installed Weatherzone
I was losing hope for my little Galaxy S. It was SO slow and clunky. I've installed the latest OS and it's running faster so I'm back into it. Time to try out some of these apps

Re: Android Apps
Came across this app recently
LBE Privacy Guard
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lbe.security" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's like the windows uac, pops up a message if an app tries to do something you might not want, access your location, network, imei. You can allow or disallow the action and even blacklist apps from certain things.
You might be surprised how often maps checks for your location when it's not even open, just about every time I unlock my phone it sends a request.

Re: Android Apps
This would have to be one of the best app ive used so far on my Andriod, µTorrent Remote
Ive been using this away from home a bit, its great being able to download torrents whilst at work so when i get home i have some new content to watch.Secure remote access to µTorrent from anywhere.
µTorrent Remote works with µTorrent 3 for Windows or the µTorrent Mac Beta 1.5. This Android app securely connects to your home computer from anywhere you have an internet connection. Use µTorrent Remote to add, remove, start, stop torrents and check your download progress. Check your RSS feeds and start downloads on the go. Use your mobile browser to find torrents and they will automatically be added to your home µTorrent! Completed downloads can even be shifted directly back to your Android device for local playback.
**Usage**
µTorrent Remote works with µTorrent 3 for Windows and µTorrent 1.5 Mac Beta. You will need to download, install and configure your home computer with an account to use µTorrent Remote.

Re: Re: Android Apps
I just bought it for my hd2. It's very small and hard to type on. gingerbread keyboard is bigger. Would it be because I have my LCD density set to a different value from default, though it doesn't effect other keyboards.pixelboy wrote:SwiftKey is awesome.. best touch keyboard by miles

Re: Android Apps
I usually install them from the android market place to my phone, via my net browser. Sometimes ill browse the market place on the phone itself but i find clicking install from my browser and them whala its already installed the next time i unlock the phone is pretty dam handy.
Ive never downloaded the file and added it to the phone manually.
