I have a profile on my desk for adjusting volumes, accessing wifi and launching the music player. One on my diary/notebook for silencing the phone for meetings and another in the car for turning on wifi, BT, gps and launching the navigation app.

And if people are wanting to experiment with them, 10 for $10

I tried aviate but gave up on it. I found it didn't do anything to make my phone experience better.

I almost installed this but i like building my home screens. Ive tried Themer as well which was cool but ended up not using it for the same reason, i like to tinker with my own setup too much.

Themer

if anyone wants to try the new Hangouts from 4.4 then you can grab the apk here. It's been ripped from a Nexus 5. It works well but i'm not sure if it'll replace Textra for me.

Been wanting to try this out in replacement for the stock sms in my S4.

Did a factory reset on my S4 over the weekend and installed the new Google Experience Launcher and a host of the new Google apps off the Nexus 5.

Its good but I quickly missed some of the stuff Apex launcher preformed and as I broke something with the new Google Now so I did a 2nd reset and installed the new Google launcher and Apex. I have set the home default to Apex and built a look alike 4.4 setup, I can still launch into the new Google launcher via the app draw so im playing with both for a week or so, or untill my Nexus 7 2013 gets 4.4.

Having Google Now on the left of home screen instead of swiping up thru the home button takes a little getting use to as I use to keep a lot of apps to the left of home (games then widgets) and keep swiping left to access them.

is it worth doing? I have Cleanrom(a vanilla 4.3 AOSP rom) running nicely on my Nexus 7 but i'm not sure there is a whole lot of reason to update it at the moment. I really only use it for Reddit, Tapatalk and social media.

Probably not.. My nexus 7 was stock so it was a no brainer.. All I use it for these days is playing google play music :-)

Google is giving away some free magazines in the play store at the moment.

Just go to the new Newsstand section and look for the banner advert.

Droid Over Wifi

Need to transfer a file or two from your PC to Phone or vice versa? Do it over Wifi, no need to connect your phone via a USB cable

If your only requirement is to move files without all the other unnecessary fluff than Droid Over Wifi would be my pick.

I use File Expert, it connects to the network so I can grab stuff from there.

I use ES File Explorer. Networks, sdcards, local phone, can browse anything and everything. Has it's own media player built (but I use MX).

Don't you just love the modern world 40 billion different ways to do 1 thing.

Multiply that by 40 billion different things & no wonder we struggle to progress as a species. :D
