2011-12 Summer of Cricket
Just read today that Adelaide is having its test match back on Australia Day next year.
Well thank fuck for tradition. This has always irked me and Im glad its back. Should never have changed.
and that Tri-Series One Day cricket is back - another step in righting cricket in this country. Sri Lanka and India might be worthy opponents.
The only thing Im seeing wrong now is how they are totally fucking up the domestic game in both short over forms. (traditionally speaking)
(oh and I still dont like international T20. Should be left to domestic competition only)

The tri series is good and they should have never gotten rid of it.

Both Sri Lanka and India are getting games in Canberra too which I'm looking forward too. Glad to see the tri series is back as well.

I thought he just needed time to settle in but I don't think he'll ever get the message that you don't need to play at every single ball.

We were all talking about it at work last week. Hughes has had at least 12 months to address the ball that squares him up, and he seems to have done nothing about it. Piss him off back to Shield cricket.
People already saying our 2 newest fast bowlers are world beaters. I wouldn't be getting to excited. Postman Pat bowled well in SA against a quality side for sure, but lets see it time and time again. And Pattison against NZ? They are hardly a team of world beaters. And they batted like it was a 20/20 game.
Considering the screams for the heads of Taylor and Waugh at the ends of their careers, I think Ponting has gotten off lightly. 30 innings with out a hundred is pretty conclusive evidence that he should go. The problem is now he will go to Hobart and get a double hundred and cement his place.

Sehwag just scored a double ton in a one dayer against the West Indies. That is fucking impressive. Still have 5 overs to go

Saw your tweet. That is a hell of an effort. Him and Gilchrist have to be the 2 cleanest hitters of a cricket ball I have seen. I keep hearing about Warner, but haven't seen a lot of him.Bauer wrote:Sehwag just scored a double ton in a one dayer against the West Indies. That is fucking impressive. Still have 5 overs to go

He'll crack 300 against us the way we're going atm lol. Gilly was the cleanest hitter. I can remember too Lance Klusner and the way he'd just bludgeon the ball everywhere.

Regarding the test. I couldn't watch it yesterday. I listened, but it was pathetic. Siddle top scoring again? Jesus.

it wasnt good. Hughes was pathetic. Ponting not much better. i dont know if i have ever seen many batsmen walk for an lbw shout. was a shit of a ball but if he wasnt falling to the on side he may have had a chance to make it look a lot less ugly.
they need to rip through the kiwis early today or they are screwed.

Re: 2011-12 Summer of Cricket
The only good to come out of it is I am $50 richer. I mentioned the conditions were very Kiwi like and a work mate told me Australia would score 400+. That was Friday arvo when the rain came. I told him if they batted like they had been, they wouldn't even get to the Kiwi's 1st innings score. He then gave me 10/1 odds that the Kiwis would win the 1st innings. Giddee up!
Hughes has been found out. Needs time away in Shield to sort the ball going away from him issue he has.
Ponting, LBW 5 times in the last 6 dismissals. Too old. Nearly 2 years since his last hundred in Hobart. He holds too much power in the dressing room. Piss him off.
Siddle, put him in at 3.

Hughes showed so much promise. It's so disappointing to see him struggling. I wonder how he'd have gone 5-10 years ago with some more team stability and quality mentors around him.

He is getting out to such a rookie technical flaw, I am astounded some one hasn't sat him down and sorted it out. Jesus, he has the man that has scored more runs in Test cricket than any other Australian there in the sheds with him, surely that should be enough.
Studley, I think there are a lot of NSW people that are embarrassed he is still there. As I said above, kids in the under 10's get that flaw coached out of them.Bittertaswegian wrote: They will stick with Hughes - only cos he is from NSW

Well that is going to make things interesting. 241 to get.
Am I the only one enjoying seeing the ball dominate the bat this test?

But it doesnt help the selectors when they know the pitch is doing a lot. Still they should know a shit shot regardless.

This ball changing is bullshit. Maybe it's too red or something for New Zealand's liking?

Kerry O'Keefe summed it up best that "if Hughes knicks himself shaving tomorrow, Guptil will come out of the medicine cabinet with a bandaid".
