Do you have to pay anything on it between now and delivery?

To place the order you need to put down a $1000 deposit, the rest is payable upon delivery. We also paid for our Euro plates so that we get the combination we want.

There's a crapload of Golf Rs getting around. Way more than there ever were R32s it would seem. Spotted a couple within 50m of each other the other day both with APR badging.

Put the car on a Dyno yesterday at a VW Dyno Day and I'm pretty pleased with the results, espically considering I haven't done any performance mods. Most stock R's will make 135-140kw at the wheels. Ours made 164kw! Everyone was in disbelieve. Starting to do some research now on acouple of mods for the car. I'm thinking of a cold air intake, exhaust a custom ECU tune. Shouldn't be to hard to get 200+kw atw.

To be fair, unless you're comparing against cars on the same dyno on the same day then it's a bit difficult to say exactly how much better or worse your own car is. That's a pretty impressive number for a stock Golf R though considering what they're quoted at the fly.

I'm a wee bit skeptical you will make that amount of power gains with mods like cold air and exhaust. Exhaust is often barely anything at all. The combo of cold air and exhaust should help it breath a bit better through the rev range though. Maybe I'm wrong, I did use to feel like it improved things on the little lancer, but that might be the placebo effect. For some reason I feel like my car runs a tiny bit harder after filling up with fuel. I use 98 octane, not sure if it drops off after a week or something. Would have thought that it would be totally negligible considering the extra weight in the car when you fill up. It makes no sense to me at all, but it seems to feel that way. :S

Not saying you shouldn't do those mods, I'm looking at doing those to my car at some point, but usually power difference isn't huge. Might be a different story with a golf R though? No idea how restrictive they are as stock.

The ecu tune will be the factor, just changing your exhaust without getting the ecu retuned will do very little.

However CAI+Exhaust and then retuning to maximise the performance with the better airflow in and out will net atleast a moderate gain.

id say with those mods and a tune you could net 35kw pretty easily, just exhaust and intake it wouldn't but then adjusting the tune to utilise is where the gain comes from

petey beat me to it lol

I honestly think you guys are under estimating just how much difference an exhaust that actually flows properly without any restrictions in it can really impact performance. Same with intake. The more air you can get in and out of the car at a fast rate the more power youll make.

Only if the ecu automatically adjusts or gets retuned.
It's programmed to operate within certain guidelines, so improving the flow is only useful if the ecu is altered to use the new found power.
Besides that, I'm sure there has been alot of research put into this engine and it would be pretty damn efficient I imagine so squeezing lots more power out without big modification is probably not likely. That being said 20-30rwkws is probably realistic.
